Surviving in StarRupture isn’t just about building functional factories and shipping materials into orbit. Every time you step outside your habitat, a hidden layer of systems starts working against you. These stats quietly determine how far you can travel, how long you can fight, and how prepared you really are for Arcadia-7’s dangers.

The game doesn’t do much to explain how these mechanics work, which is why many early deaths feel sudden or unfair. Once you understand what each stat does, everything clicks. You’ll stop reacting to empty meters and start planning your routes, meals, and upgrades with purpose. This guide breaks down every stat in StarRupture and how you can manage each one.

How to Unlock Map in StarRupture

Here is how to unlock the Map Feature in StarRupture, as well as how to reveal Arcadia-7 faster using Geo Scanners.

All Stats in StarRupture & How to Manage Them

All Stats in StarRupture & How to Manage Them

You can view your character’s main stats by pressing Tab, which opens the character overview screen. Here, you’ll see five bars: Shield, Health, Calories, Hydration, and Toxicity. These constantly change based on what you’re doing and where you are.

There’s also a sixth stat called Stamina. It isn’t displayed in the same way, but it’s just as important. Stamina controls how long you can sprint, jump, dodge, and fight before your body gives out. You can’t stay alive in StarRupture for long without balancing all six of these stats.

Shield

Shield is the blue bar that sits above your Health. Any damage you take from enemies or hazards drains the Shield bar first. If you avoid damage for a short time, it begins regenerating by itself.

Shield regeneration is passive, and its maximum capacity is tied to long-term upgrades. As long as enemies aren’t draining your Health bar, you can stay in the field for a longer time without burning healing items.

Health

Health is the red bar below Shield. If it hits zero, you’ll die and go back to your Regeneration Chamber. Your gear will stay intact after you die, but everything you were carrying drops on your corpse.

If you want to recover fully in StarRupture, you need to physically return and loot the items on your own body.

Unlike Shield, Health does not naturally regenerate on its own while you’re exploring. You need to use healing items, like the Medtool, to restore health in StarRupture. Once unlocked, the Medtool becomes your most reliable healing source.

Calories

Calories in StarRupture represent your food reserves. This bar steadily drains over time, no matter what you’re doing on Arcadia-7. It doesn’t matter if you’re mining, building, or simply walking; everything consumes your calories.

If Calories drop below zero, you start taking damage over time. You can die in a completely safe zone if you keep ignoring this bar and focus on other tasks, like building and construction.

To refill Calories, simply eat Polifruit. It’s common and can be eaten directly. Make it a habit to grab it whenever you see it and eat when the bar dips. Once cooking unlocks in StarRupture, better meals restore more Calories and usually provide other buffs. This will also change how many times you have to stop and snack.

Hydration

Getting Hydrobulb in StarRupture

Hydration behaves much like Calories. It drains over time, and letting it fall below zero triggers damage over time. Letting both Hydration and Calories fall into the red is one of the fastest ways to end up with low Health without ever being hit by an enemy.

To recover Hydration, eat Hydrobulbs. Plus, you can use Hydrobulbs to create better foods after unlocking cooking station that can restore both Hydration and other stats.

Toxicity

Toxicity is different from every other stat. It only rises when you consume items that explicitly add the Toxicity status effect, like aggressive food buffs.

When Toxicity reaches 100, the game hits you with severe penalties. You can easily lower Toxicity before it hits the cap by eating foods made using Purplant.

Stamina

You need Stamina to move, sprint, dash, and double-jump. When Stamina drops, your movement slows, and you won’t be able to perform any evasive maneuvers. In many situations, low Stamina is more dangerous than low Health because being unable to move can get you killed instantly.

To recover Stamina, eat foods made with Serpent Root. They improve Stamina regeneration and mobility but increase Toxicity, which is why you need to be careful when consuming them.

While food, healing items, and passive regeneration are all important, you can enhance your stats long-term by using LEMs. You can find LEMs early on in the game but to use them, you need to unlock the LEM Station.
