Starrupture encourages players to build many Bases and automate their production while they explore its open world map. However, when a base is left unprotected, aliens can reach it and attack its structures. If they reach the Base Core and attack it, they will infect it, causing the entire perimeter to change to blue, the infection color.
This prevents players from using any structure within that Base Core’s zone and even stops them from entering the habitat. An infected Base needs quick repair and constant protection to prevent that from happening again. Here's how to repair an infected Base in StarRupture.
How To Disinfect Your Base In StarRupture
To disinfect your Base Core in StarRupture, go to the Base Core structure and look for the infection on it; it should look like a light blue blob.
When infected, the entire Base Core turns blue, and the infection itself is also blue, which can make it confusing. So, focus on the lighter blue color. Usually, there should be no more than one infection on the Base Core.
You can aim and shoot at it using any weapon, even the mining device. Once you destroy the infection on the Base Core, all the other structures will begin healing, losing their blue color. However, the Base Core will stay infected until you approach it.
You need to approach the infected Base Core and disinfect it by holding the E button.
When infected and needs repairing, the Base color will change on the map too.
Once the Base Core is disinfected, the entire perimeter will return to normal. However, this won’t last long if you leave the same Base unprotected again, as aliens will respawn and launch the same attacks. Since you need to build multiple Bases in StarRupture, it’s not possible to manually defend all of them at once.
Because of that, it’s better to set up an automated defense system. You can do this by upgrading the Griffits Blue Corporation, which unlocks the Defense Turret and Defense Tower. The Defense Turret requires manual ammo refills from time to time, while the Defense Tower is more advanced and can automatically refill its ammunition.
