There's more to StarRupture than just building bases, blasting bugs, and surviving regular apocalyptic events that scorch the entire planet's surface to ash. Players will also need to maintain their character's health through food and drink.
Unfortunately, the corporate overlords watching over the large-scale, legally ambiguous mining operation you're in aren't the generous kinds, which means you'll have to fend for yourself. With that being said, here's how you can get food in StarRupture, including all the ways to make your basic meals a little bit better.

Where to Find Food in StarRupture
The very basic kinds of food you get in the game are foraged from plants, and you can find them almost everywhere. Once you step out of the starting ship, you should be able to find a nearby pond with a few flowering plants surrounding it. The ones you need are called Polifruits, and they resemble corn or carrots.
While you're exploring, you may also come across the dead bodies of previous expeditioners. They tend to have some processed food items on them, such as Calorie Bars, but other times, the food they have is for healing, not nutrition. They make for great sources of nutrition early on, but once you loot them, you can't loot them again even after a Ruptura event.
Polifruit is fairly common, so you should have no issue finding some, especially around the pond near the starting area, which is also full of Hydrobulbs for water.
How to Process Food in StarRupture
A single Polifruit restores 11 Calories, which isn't very efficient. To get more out of Calories from food, you'll need to make better consumables through the Recipe Station, which you can unlock by improving your relationships with one of the corporations.
Once you've unlocked and built a Recipe Station, select the consumables tab by clicking the button on the left side of the menu. Here, you'll see all the available consumable items you can research and craft, as well as the benefits you get for eating them. If you want something that's solely for restoring your food meter, research Calorie Bars first. These restore a whopping 90 Calories each. For these, you'll need the following resources to unlock the recipe:
- 80 Polifruit
- 30 Serpent Root
- 200 Data
You can find Serpent Roots in the rocky mountain biome northeast of the starting area.
If you want food that's a step above ordinary Polifruits, research the Figler first. These restore 15 Calories and 20 Hydration, making it great pocket snacks for long trips out in Arcadia. Figlers are made using Pricklers, the cactus-like plants found in the green fields near the landing zone.
