A new episodic adventure game named Dispatch is blowing up on Steam, one week after the initial release of Episodes 1 and 2. While many adventure games keep players waiting for more content, Dispatch has bucked the trend by quickly releasing Episodes 3 and 4, enticing players to jump into the game for the first time.
Developer AdHoc Studio describes Dispatch as "a superhero workplace comedy where choices matter." Players must "manage a dysfunctional team of misfit heroes and strategize who to send to emergencies around the city," while figuring out personal relationships along the way. Dispatch features an all-star cast, including Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, and Jeffrey Wright, as well as popular online personalities such as MoistCr1TiKaL, Jacksepticeye, and Alanah Pearce, among many others. And boasting involvement from "the writers & directors of Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us," it's no surprise that Dispatch is off to a strong start.
New Cozy Game on Steam is Like Studio Ghibli Meets Breath of the Wild
This new cozy game on Steam looks like something straight out of a Studio Ghibli movie with Breath of the Wild gameplay.
Dispatch Player Count Surges Following Episode 3 and 4 Release
According to SteamDB, Dispatch's player count has surged massively following the release of Episodes 3 and 4. It has gone from a peak of 12,707 concurrent players upon its launch a week ago, to a massive all-time peak of 65,999. Momentum has clearly been gathering for the newest Dispatch Episodes in the time since launch, which could also be helped by its "Very Positive" Steam reviews. Right now, players like what they see from Dispatch.
The story is still only halfway complete. There will be eight Dispatch Episodes in total, with the final two due on November 12. Sticking the landing and becoming lauded as one of the best episodic adventure games on the market will be a tough task, but Dispatch is off to a great start. Whether the player count can continue to rise in the coming weeks remains to be seen.
The beauty of Steam is that there are tons of indie games releasing on the platform all the time, many of which blow up in surprising ways. RV There Yet? Is a great recent example of a game that very few had heard of but instantly found a massive Steam audience once word of mouth started spreading.
