Steam users have one last chace to pick up Tell Me Why and Next Jump: Shmup Tactics free of charge. Both Steam freebies are scheduled to end with the advent of July 2025.
Like before, Paris-based developer and Life is Strange creator Don't Nod Entertainment has been giving away Tell Me Why in celebration of Pride Month this year. The offer kicked off on May 30 and only incorporates the first episode of the three-episode adventure game. However, other episodes of Tell Me Why have been given away in the past as well.
Epic Games Store Reveals Its Free Game for July 3
The Epic Games Store reveals $40 worth of free titles that its users will be able to claim over the week-long period starting July 3.
The Tell Me Why Steam giveaway is officially scheduled to conclude this Tuesday, July 1, at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm CET. That's also the cutoff date for PC gamers to claim Next Jump: Shmup Tactics from Valve's storefront. Unlike Tell Me Why, Next Jump has only been available to grab free of charge for a few days, beginning June 26.
Temporarily Free Steam Games Right Now
Since its 2020 release, Tell Me Why has received multiple awards, winning accolades at The Game Awards, Pégases Awards, and GLAAD Media Awards. It was also met with largely favorable reviews, as highlighted by its "Strong" rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 81 and a 77% recommendation rate. As of June 2025, Tell Me Why also holds "Very Positive" player reviews on Steam, based on over 14,300 user impressions. While only the first episode is being given away for free right now, the other two are presently 75% off, thus being offered at $4.99 combined. Although the giveaway is set to end on July 1, the episode discounts will run for nine days longer. The three episodes typically retail for $19.99 in total.
Even when it's not the subject of discounts or giveaways, Next Jump: Shmup Tactics is usually a much more affordable game, priced at $3.99. Gameplay-wise, it's a genre hybrid that combines turn-based strategy with roguelite elements like procedural generation. Its level design is meant to be conducive to fast-paced gameplay, with the overall package thus playing a bit like a puzzler with a tactical shoot-em-up skin.
Next Jump: Shmup Tactics offers three difficulty modes, over half a dozen pilotable ships, and a variety of upgrades that can be leveraged over the course of a single run. One of its distinctive selling points is a full-fledged digital user manual—available in the game—inspired by the classic era of gaming that influenced it.
