Steam is arguably the best gaming platform on the market, especially in terms of sheer scale. If you are looking for a specific type of game, you will probably find something that suits your fancy; frankly, you will likely drown in options. While most releases added to Valve's store tend to stick around indefinitely, every month usually comes with a few delisted Steam games that stop being available to purchase. This can happen for a multitude of reasons, be it a lack of support/resources or an expiring license that forbids the publisher from making any more profit.
This month is no exception, as quite a few big games are being removed from Steam in August 2025. Although not necessarily considered all-time greats, they are worth highlighting since you might wish to pick them up before they become unavailable.
Except for one title, these upcoming games will still be playable after they are delisted, although their online modes will not be around forever.
Also, this is not a comprehensive list of every Steam game being delisted in August 2025.

Goosebumps: The Game is leaving Steam, and there is speculation that the same will happen on consoles. However, WayForward's message only mentioned the Steam release, so I cannot confirm that the PS4, Xbox, and Switch versions will follow suit.
Still, it seems likely that the game will also leave those platforms. If you have any interest at all in trying out Goosebumps: The Game, this is really the time to add it to one of your libraries. The reason for the delisting has not been provided, but it could be a licensing issue. That said, GameMill is set to publish Goosebumps: Terror in Little Creek on August 29, 2025.
A point-and-click adventure that very much feels inspired by '90s horror classic, Goosebumps: The Game is a pretty cool tribute to the classic TV show and the books. It is probably the best Goosebumps game up to this point, although your mileage will depend on your fondness for the IP.
Goosebumps: The Game is a single-player game, so you should be able to continue playing it normally.

Less than three years after its debut, Crossfire: Legion is removing itself from Steam's library, which is a shame, as the strategy game had a lot of potential. There are not all that many modern RTS multiplayer projects, as the scene is primarily dominated by old-school classics like StarCraft. Crossfire: Legion provided an alternative when it launched in 2022, but it followed a demo that was not particularly well-received. The full game got a fairly poor critical reception as well, and it did not manage to pass 100 active players on Steam.
Blackbird Interactive confirmed that the multiplayer will not be shut down, so those modes will continue to be available after Crossfire: Legion is delisted from Steam. However, there is no guarantee that this portion of the package will remain viable in the future, especially since it has never been particularly active. Still, the game does have a single-player campaign.
Splitgate (Delisted & Shutdown)

Here is a slightly different case, as Splitgate is not only being delisted but also shut down in August 2025, as 1047 Games has decided to focus all of its energy and resources on the polarizing sequel. So, yeah, you will not be able to play this Halo-esque multiplayer shooter in a month, although Splitgate 2 will continue to be available in beta form.
Overall, Splitgate has had a pretty frustrating life. Launching into early access in 2019, the game garnered attention due to its incorporation of portals, which emphasized strategy, creativity, and placement. The shooting mechanics were generally solid, too, at least to the point of not being detrimental. Unfortunately, as time passed, Splitgate lost quite a bit of momentum and struggled to fill lobbies, causing quite a few matches to become filled with bots. The player base dwindled to a few hundred during its final few years.

Arguably the biggest game being removed from Steam in August, Project Cars 3 is an arcade sim racer that leans a bit more into the arcade style of things. Unlike its predecessors, the 2020 release reduced the realism in favor of accessibility, a decision that did not sit well with the franchise's fan base and put it in direct competition with the likes of Forza Horizon and Gran Turismo. While not an awful racing game by any stretch of the imagination, Project Cars 3 never really presented a strong case for why it should be preferred over other options on the market, except as maybe a virtual reality option.
Bandai Namco has confirmed that Project Cars 3's online modes will remain active until February 24, 2026; after that point, the game's career mode should still be available. Full disclosure, the latter is probably one of the more divisive aspects of the game, as it consists of short objective-based races rather than a conventional campaign.
