Becrowned is an upcoming survival horror game that appears to borrow more than a few cues from Silent Hill. While its atmosphere and moment-to-moment gameplay echo the classic Silent Hill entries, it stands apart through its setting and a stronger focus on world reactivity and player choice.
Originally announced in December 2023, Becrowned is the debut title from indie studio 13th Street Studio. Described as a surreal survival horror game set in a world where one's deepest fears become reality, its psychological premise, third-person perspective, and foggy environments ooze strong Silent Hill vibes. Several tidbits that 13th Street Studio CEO and developer Ernest Anpilov previously shared on social media suggest that the project has been in active development since mid-2021.
Silent Hill is Getting an Unexpected Crossover With Another Game
Silent Hill is getting a highly unexpected crossover with another video game, surprising fans of the classic horror franchise.
Becrowned Gets New Demo and Gameplay Trailer
Becrowned has received a new Steam demo at the tail end of October 2025. This is the second trial version of the game released to date, following a demo from September 2024. While the original build was more of a vertical slice, its successor offers a chance to experience the very beginning of the Silent Hill-inspired game. 13th Street says the demo—and, by extension, the game's introductory segment—better illustrates what exactly makes Becrowned unique than the 2024 trial did.
The key selling point of Becrowned is that it's designed around world reactivity from the ground up. It promises "countless choices" affecting the fates of various NPCs that players will encounter while exploring its unsettling world. Combined with a non-linear story structure and multiple main endings, Becrowned promises to deliver a survival horror experience with significant replay value.
Becrowned May Arrive in 2026
The game's story will follow one Richard Torrace, a cold and calculating man seeking the purest of rewards: happiness. His quest will lead him to a "world of endless suffering," where he will have to confront his past in order to determine his future. In terms of world design, Becrowned looks like a classic Silent Hill game set in a present-ish-day castle, plus some surrounding areas. The title has so far only been confirmed for PC. No release date has been announced yet, but with over four years of development behind Becrowned, a launch may be near. The game's Steam page has listed it as "coming soon" since late September 2025. Given the circumstances, a 2026 release seems plausible.
Original Becrowned Demo Still Available on Steam
