Hollow Knight: Silksong has often found itself at the top of the Top Wishlists chart on Steam, but now that it's out, Subnautica 2 has taken its place. Steam users are able to add games to their "wishlists," with the most-wanted games ranked on the platform. This way, Steam users can always see what the most-anticipated games are and may be able to find an upcoming game that interests them as well.
Unsurprisingly, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been at the top of the Steam Wishlists, and for good reason. The original Hollow Knight is a Metroidvania classic and often championed as one of the best games in its genre. Follow-up Silksong was first announced in 2019, and so the significantly long wait for the game has helped it achieve near-unprecedented levels of hype. But now Silksong is out (after briefly crashing Steam and other digital platforms), and so fans have to start looking forward to different games.

At the time of this writing, Subnautica 2 is at the top of the Steam Wishlist ranking, followed by Valve's hero shooter Deadlock, upcoming co-op looter-shooter game Borderlands 4, the highly-anticipated FPS Battlefield 6, the ambitious Light No Fire from Hello Games, extraction shooter ARC Raiders, Arena Breakout: Infinite, Dying Light: The Beast, roguelike deckbuilder Slay the Spire 2, and ARK 2. The list will get some significant shake-ups in the next couple of months as some of these titles hit the market, and it will be interesting to see how it looks going into 2026.
What will be especially interesting is how long Subnautica 2 will be able to hold on to its spot at the top of the ranking. For those unfamiliar with the series, Subnautica 2 is an open world survival game where players explore mysterious, alien waters. The game features co-op for up to four players, crafting systems, and a variety of biomes and lifeforms to study. Subnautica 2 is currently without a release date, but the game is expected to release in early access at some point in 2026.
Subnautica 2 has had some development problems, but hopefully its launch will go smoothly. It seems Steam users are confident that Subnautica 2 will deliver, as made clear by its spot at the top of the Steam Top Wishlisted games list.
