This post contains spoilers for Steel Ball Run.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a diverse anime series that is split into multiple parts. Each part is focused on a particular protagonist as they deal with a ton of villains. Out of all completed parts, Steel Ball Run is the one that has garnered the most praise from readers.
That's why, when the anime adaptation was announced, fans were absolutely thrilled, as they would finally get to watch the best part in the entire series. However, a new detail has been revealed about the anime, which has left fans quite skeptical and killed their excitement.
JoJo Fans Get A Major Update About The Steel Ball Run Anime
Fans have finally received an update regarding the production of the Steel Ball Run anime.
Steel Ball Run Will Be Exclusive To Netflix
Steel Ball Run Anime Is Releasing In 2026
- Steel Ball Run will only air on Netflix
- SBR could end up being a major disappointment
It has been confirmed that the Steel Ball Run anime will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix, and fans are upset by the decision. The Stone Ocean anime was also exclusive to Netflix, and the streaming platform completely killed its hype by releasing new episodes in batches instead of adhering to a normal weekly schedule.
Once fans finished an entire batch, they had to wait for months for the next. This resulted in fans losing interest in the series. Many decided to wait for all the batches to be released before starting the anime. Since Netflix is handling distribution of Steel Ball Run, fans are scared that something similar might happen to the series.
At the moment, Netflix has released a statement that confirms what release schedule it will adapt for Steel Ball Run. But fans will be hoping that the streaming giant adheres to the weekly release. It would be remiss not to mention that Netflix has made a lot of mistakes in the past, but it has tried to fix them actively, which is why there is a good chance that something similar to Stone Ocean won't happen. If Netflix still decides to go for the batch-style release, then the effects will be devastating.
Steel Ball Run Anime Has The Potential To Surpass All The Other Series
Steel Ball Run Is Based On An Amazing Manga
As previously stated, Steel Ball Run is a fan favorite. It is considered to be Hirohiko Araki's best work, which is why fans are so excited to see it being animated. It is worth mentioning that Steel Ball Run has a rating of 9.33 on MyAnimeList, making it one of the highest-rated series on the platform. Readers who have gone through the story know it's well executed. Naturally, they believe a series that has excellent reviews deserves an adaptation that lives up to the hype.
The pressure will be on David Production to come up with an adaptation that satisfies the viewers. So far, all the parts have been animated by the same studio, and fans have had no complaints whatsoever. But Steel Ball Run is different from the rest. It covers a horse race, so there are a lot of horses involved. In the past, many animation studios have struggled to replicate the movement of horses. However, the staff at David Production has assured fans that there won't be any such problems with SBR. Given the history of David Production, JoJo fans have no reason not to trust the studio.
Steel Ball Run Has To Compete With Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3
Since Steel Ball Run is releasing in 2026, it will have to compete with Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, which is set to be released in January of the same year. JJK Season 3 is set to adapt the Culling Game arc. Anime fans have been waiting for years to see the new season, and it's highly probable that most of them will be watching when it premieres.
In addition to Jujutsu Kaisen, Steel Ball Run also has to contend with Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Hell's Paradise, Oshi no Ko, and several other big-name titles. It definitely won't be easy for Steel Ball Run to stand out, unless the adaptation is immaculate.
