During the September 2024 State of Play, Stellar Blade was given a spotlight in a trailer showcasing the game's long-anticipated photo mode. At the end of the trailer, Eve is shown walking across a platform as a transition shows her and her gear morphing into NieR: Automata's 2B, accompanied by Pod 042. As 2B walks into the frame, the City Ruins theme from NieR: Automata begins to play.
Stellar Blade Gets a NieR: Automata Collaboration
There are many Stellar Blade fans who have also enjoyed NieR: Automata, and a lot of gamers recognized the various similarities between the two games as more information surrounding Stellar Blade was revealed. In addition, Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung-tae has been very open about how NieR: Automata inspired the project that his game ultimately became. The story of an android-adjacent being struggling to justify the information they've been told and the truth they learn through experience may sound familiar to fans of the former.
It is unclear how much content the Stellar Blade x Nier: Automata collaboration will add to the game so far. The tagline for the DLC states that "worlds collide," which could be nothing more than exciting jargon to convey the nature of the collab, but it could also be interpreted as a flag for some sort of additional story event. Gamers are hoping that this collaboration will add story missions, and given the reality-warping nature of the narratives of both games, there's a chance that Kim Hyung-tae and Nier: Automata director Yoko Taro will play around with a crossover that integrates both characters into the same world.
