Stellar Blade has increased its player count on PS5 by 40.14% after the recent summer update. While Stellar Blade was controversial back when it was released due to the sexualized design of its protagonist Eve, many believed it was a solid character action game. In addition, it seems that players are still interested in it, despite it being a single-player experience.

Stellar Blade was released back in April, becoming the best-selling game in North America during the month. Reviews of Stellar Blade were generally positive, praising the gameplay and memorable boss fights while acknowledging that the game’s story is not its strongest aspect.

Now, True Trophies has revealed that Stellar Blade’s player count has increased by 40.14% soon after the recent update. The data was taken from over 3.1 million PSN accounts on July 28, 2024. Considering that Stellar Blade does not feature live service elements, this is a pretty significant spike, which is almost certainly linked to the recent summer update that the game received.

Stellar Blade's Summer Update Increases Player Count By 40% On PS5

Stellar Blade’s Summer Update was out on July 25, and it brought a small number of fixes and improvements to the popular action game. The update added two new outfits for Eve, as well as a small area that can be used for a time-limited summer vacation at the Great Desert Oasis. Overall, it continued Stellar Blade’s tradition to add more outfits in regular updates, but it does not bring a lot of new content, which is surprising considering how much the player count for the game increased during last week.

Unfortunately, Stellar Blade’s recent update disappointed fans due to not bringing the eagerly awaited Photo Mode for the game. Originally revealed in June, Photo Mode for Stellar Blade should be out around August, according to the game’s road map. However, recent reports indicate that Photo Mode may be delayed. A sequel has already been confirmed, too, and the developers are currently considering paid DLC.

A few days ago, a rumor surfaced that Stellar Blade could be coming to PC soon. The game is published by Sony and was originally released as a PS5 exclusive, but it’s not rare for Sony games to eventually be available on PC. The rumors started after gamers spotted an ad for Stellar Blade’s Korean studio Shift Up, which indicated that the company was looking for a professional with experience with "PC-related system design and production." It’s unconfirmed, however, whether the port will happen, or when it’ll be available.
