The highly anticipated PS5-exclusive action-RPG Stellar Blade by developer Shift Up finally has a confirmed release date of April 26, 2024. Originally slated to launch sometime in 2023, Stellar Blade was unofficially delayed when the year came to a close and there had still been no updates or new footage shared by the studio.
As soon as it was revealed, Stellar Blade caught the attention of gamers with its sci-fi setting and combat style that called to mind Nier: Automata, Bayonetta, and Sekiro. The occasional screenshots and trailers for Stellar Blade have only served to get fans even more excited about the upcoming game, and after what feels like a long wait, the PS5-exclusive will be hitting shelves in just a few short months.
PS5 Exclusive Stellar Blade Spotlights Real-Life Model Used for Protagonist
Stellar Blade reveals the real-life model that the developers used for the protagonist of the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive action title.
The game by Shift Up began as Project Eve, announced in 2019, but received new gameplay footage and a name change to Stellar Blade during September 2022’s PlayStation State of Play showcase. Coming full circle, during the January 2024 State of Play, a new gameplay trailer was shared along with an official release date of April 26, 2024. Preorders for the game will open on February 7.

Those who preorder Stellar Blade will receive Eve’s Planet Diving Suit, Classic Round Glasses, and Ear Armor Earrings as bonuses. A PlayStation.Blog post also detailed the Stellar Blade Digital Deluxe Edition, which will retail for $79.99. Along with the full game, it will include Stargazer outfits for the three main characters and some accessories, as well as 2,000 SP EXP and 5,000 Gold.

In addition to gameplay, the new six-minute trailer revealed some of Stellar Blade's combat and provided more details about the story. In the game, humankind has been driven from Earth by invaders called the Naytiba. The game’s protagonist, Eve, has grown up in an off-world colony. She is a member of a paratrooper squad determined to recapture humanity’s home planet from the enemy by defeating the Elder Naytiba.
After an unspecified disaster leaves Eve the sole survivor of her squad, she sets out to complete the mission alone. But on her journey, Stellar Blade’s Eve meets Adam, born on Earth, and a few other people who live in Xion, the last surviving human city. Xion will serve as a sort of hub from which Eve will venture out into a semi-open world, completing quests for various survivors, rebuilding Xion, and eventually reclaiming Earth from the invading Naytiba.
