Now, Stellar Blade’s developer Shift Up has released the game’s 1.008 update, which adds support for the PS5 Pro while fixing some minor bugs that still plagued the action title. After the patch, gamers can pick between five graphic modes, two of which are only available on the PS5 Pro. The three standard modes include Prioritize Performance, Balanced, and Prioritize Resolution, which were already available before the patch, and the update introduces Pro and Pro Max modes. While Pro is an enhanced version of Balance mode, Pro Max allows for higher frame rates. According to patch notes, the higher frame rate options will minimize input lag even more but will need a display that supports a 120 Hz output.

Unfortunately for gamers who were expecting new content, the 1.008 update does not bring any of it. However, there is a Stellar Blade and Nier: Automata crossover DLC coming later in 2024, which is bound to bring exciting content for fans.

While PS5 owners will play this enhanced version of Stellar Blade soon, the popular game is still not available for PC. A few months ago, Shift Up confirmed the Stellar Blade PC port, explaining that it would be available “in the near future.” It’s speculated that this port could still be released in 2024, but there is no official date yet.

Due to Stellar Blade’s success, it’s likely that Shift Up is already working on a sequel. Recent rumors indicate that Stellar Blade 2 could be developed using Unreal Engine 5, which would be a huge upgrade for the game. Stellar Blade was developed with Unreal Engine 4, but the next version of the engine has been one of the most popular tools for AAA development recently, so it seems like a natural move, as it could provide the game with even better graphics.
