The galaxy is a dangerous place in Stellaris, the hit sci-fi grand strategy from Paradox Interactive. As players guide their chosen civilization across the stars, they'll encounter to threats ranging from Stellaris' take on space pirates, all the way up to the terrifying Guardians, massive spacebourne entities of incredible power.

One of the most interesting Guardians in Stellaris is the Scavenger Bot, a vast spherical robot that used nanotech to cobble itself together from the wrecks of an ancient battlefield. Like all Guardians, the Scavenger Bot is an incredibly tough challenge for a Fleet, but defeating it will yield some powerful rewards.

How to Beat the Scavenger Bot in Stellaris

Stellaris Scavenger Bot under attack by player fleet

While the Scavenger Bot can be defeated by any Fleet of 40k+ Power, a smaller Fleet will be able to beat it if players design their ships specifically for the job. The Bot has large amounts of Shields, Armor, and Hull, but no Point Defense weapons or Evasion, making Strike Craft and guided weapons like Missiles or Torpedoes the best choices against it. All of these weapons ignore Shields completely, and non-Energy Torpedoes deal bonus damage against large targets like the Scavenger Bot.

When it comes to their own defenses, players should use the opposite approach to the Bot itself. The Scavenger Bot's primary weapons are 7 Proximity Mine launchers, which fire slow-moving Torpedoes that are highly susceptible to Point Defense weapons. With enough PD weapons on their ships, players can completely negate the Scavenger Bot's Mines. The Bot's only other weapon is a huge but slow-firing Scrap Launcher, which can't be intercepted but has trouble hitting evasive targets.

Rewards for Beating the Scavenger Bot in Stellaris

Stellaris Scavenger Bot almost destroyed

Once players have defeated the Scavenger Bot, they'll not only begin the Parade Opportunity to celebrate their victory, but also receive a set of powerful technologies immediately:

  • Nanite Repair System - A unique Auxiliary Component that repairs Hull and Armor over time.
  • Nanite Autocannon - A unique version of the Autocannon that is a tier above the Stormfire Autocannon.
  • Nanite Flak Battery - A unique version of the Flak weapon that is a tier above the Flak Artillery. Unlike the other Nanite Components, it doesn't require Nanobots to build.
  • Two random Tier V Components, either Gauss Cannons, Gamma Lasers, Marauder Missiles, Neutronium Armor, or Hyper Shields.

While the Nanite Repair System and Autocannon require the incredibly rare Nanites Strategic Resource to build, the System that the Scavenger Bot occupied is guaranteed to have a +1 deposit.

Players will also be able to work towards the Scavenger Bot Parade Opportunity, either encouraging it to speed up its progress, or discouraging it to save Energy Credits. Halfway through the Opportunity, they'll be given a choice between breaking apart the Bot's matter compressor for 5,000 Alloys and setting back the Parade progress, incorporating the compressor into the Parade to accelerate its progress and add more Unity at the end, or cancel the Parade to add a +10 Alloy deposit to the Bot's System. Provided they continue with the Parade, they'll eventually receive a permanent +20% bonus to Alloy production on their capital world or capital Megastructure, as well as a large amount of Unity.
