Summary

  • Grumpyface Studios has expressed heartbreak over many of its games under the Cartoon Network label being delisted due to cost-cutting measures.
  • Steven Universe: The Light Trilogy and the Teeny Titans games are among those no longer available on digital storefronts.
  • Many players have also expressed frustration over the decision.

Developer Grumpyface Studios recently voiced how heartbreaking it was to see the games published under the Cartoon Network Games label be delisted across all platforms. Grumpyface Studios is best known for its collaboration with Adult Swim Games and Cartoon Network Games, releasing a variety of mobile titles based on shows that were aired on the network. Some of the shows that Grumpyface Studios worked with include Adventure Time and Regular Show, along with the Steven Universe: The Light Trilogy titles that were released on major consoles and PC.

Unfortunately, some Grumpyface Studios-developed games can no longer be bought legally. Earlier this December, at least six Cartoon Network-published games were delisted across various digital storefronts, including Steam and the Nintendo eShop. Throughout 2024, Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of Cartoon Network, has been shelving nearly completed projects and delisting original films from its streaming services to cut costs, which has affected video games too. Of the games that have been delisted from sale, Grumpyface Studios' Steven Universe: Save the Light and Steven Universe: Unleash the Light were among them. The studio recently put out a statement to clarify how it's been affected by the recent delistings.

On Grumpyface's official Twitter account, the studio posted how it wasn't involved with the decision to delist the Steven Universe: The Light Trilogy or Teeny Titans games. The account also notes it is unable to speak about the matter further, and all questions regarding the removal of these titles should be sent to Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. Instead. The tweet ends with how the studio was heartbroken over the decision, with many fans sharing the same sentiments.

Grumpyface Not Involved with Delisting Steven Universe and Teeny Titans Games

Steven Universe: The Light Trilogy was a series of RPGs based on the Cartoon Network animated series. While the first game in the trilogy, Attack the Light, was exclusive to mobile devices, the sequels, Save the Light and Unleash the Light, were released for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Teeny Titans was a game based on the Teen Titans GO show, which sees Robin collecting and upgrading his figures to win tournaments against other characters in the game, similar to Pokemon.

Other games that are being delisted from Steam and consoles include Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest along with Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time. This isn't the first time that Warner Bros. Attempted to delist several of its games, as there was a mass delisting in March 2024, though many of the Adult Swim-published games were saved thanks to public outcry. Many fans have voiced their outrage about Warner Bros. Removing these games without any warning, with some also trying to preserve some of these lost titles.
