How to Fish in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
You can’t start fishing without a rod, but luckily, you will get one pretty early on. On the 7th day of Spring, when you step outside in the morning, Wilbur (the town’s carpenter) will be waiting for you. He will give you his old fishing rod and walk you through the basics of fishing. After that, he’ll ask you to catch three fish and bring them back.
Wilbur is also the guy who helps you upgrade your inventory later on.
To catch a fish, head over to any water spot, equip your rod, and cast your line. Wait a little, and once a fish bites, you can start reeling it in. The trick is to pull it in before your rod’s durability runs out. The green bar on the screen shows how much durability you have left. You will also see the fish’s stamina, so keep an eye on that while you’re reeling.
At first, players will only be able to catch the basic, early-game fish. If you want to reel in the rarer ones, you’ll need to upgrade your fishing rod. You can do this at the windmills. The first one you will unlock is the Red Windmill, and it allows you to upgrade your rod up to three times.
