At the start of the game, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar players are taught the basics of farming, given a handful of Turnip seeds, then set loose to start creating the farm of their dreams. At first, you only have access to four types of seeds from Miguel's Mercantile Shop: Turnip seeds, Baby Blue flower seeds, Radish seeds, and Daikon Radish seeds.

Using the starting money you get from completing the Bazaar tutorial with the Mayor of Zephyr Town, fill in your first plot with the best early seeds Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar offers. This guide details all four starting crops players have access to, and recommends which you should buy out to maximize your profit in the early game of Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar.

Daikon Radish

High Price Seeds With Low Yield

Story of Seasons Best Early Crops Starting Seeds Daikon Radish
  • Days to Grow Daikon Radish: 4
  • Daikon Radish Seed Price: 252 G
  • Daikon Radish Seed Yield: 1 - 2
  • Base Daikon Radish Sale Value: 294G

Among the first crops Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar players can get is the Daikon Radish. This larger cousin of the regular Radish seems enticing – it costs a lot of G, so surely it must yield a lot of money when you go to harvest it, right?

Despite the high cost of its seeds, the Daikon Radish is actually one of the worst crops Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar players can get in Spring. Each individual Daikon Radish goes for a large 294 G, but it's rare for each seed to produce more than one crop. If you only get one Daikon Radish from a plot, you only make 40 G profit on that huge investment.

Avoid purchasing Daikon Radish seeds at the beginning of the game. Instead, look to the reliable Turnip and regular Radish Seeds for higher yields, lower seed costs, and higher profits.

Baby Blue

Plant A Few For The Flower Fest

Story of Seasons Best Early Crops Starting Seeds Baby Blue flower
  • Days to Grow Baby Blue: 3
  • Baby Blue Seed Price: 126 G
  • Baby Blue Seed Yield: 1 - 2
  • Base Baby Blue Sale Value: 90 G

The Baby Blue is one of many flowers that players can plant throughout Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar. Flowers can be sold at your Bazaar stall like any other crop, but this one in particular is useful for reasons aside from income.

Like the Daikon Radish, Baby Blue seeds yield one or two flowers with each harvest, so you will lose money if you only get one from a plot. However, you'll have more options for gifting during the Flower Festival.

The Flower Festival takes place on Spring 11 and 12. On Spring 11, the Mayor will tell you to gift as many flowers as you can to the residents of Zephyr Town. If you build up your stock by reserving a few plots for Baby Blue flowers at the start of the season, you'll have plenty of flowers to gift and get 1st place in the Flower Festival.

You can also get flowers from foraging throughout Zephyr Town and its surroundings. If you end up having more than 20 flowers of any other type in your storage, you don't need the Baby Blue crop to make it over the winning threshold (which is about 25 gifted flowers).

Instead, sell your Baby Blue crop at your stall, or give them as regular gifts outside of the Flower Festival to increase your relationship with Zephyr Town's various residents in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar.

Turnip

Cheap Seeds With Decent Profit

Story of Seasons Best Early Crops Starting Seeds Turnip

  • Days to Grow Turnip: 4
  • Turnip Seed Price: 154 G
  • Turnip Seed Yield: 1 - 2
  • Base Turnip Sale Value: 200 G

Turnips are the first crop that Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar players can plant. You get 9x Turnip Seeds by completing the farming tutorial at the start of the game, but you can purchase more at Miguel's Mercantile Shop in the central plaza of Zephyr Town.

These seeds take four days to grow (with two watering sessions each day), and the seeds themselves cost just over 150 G. Each seed has a chance to yield up to three Turnips, which sell for 200 G each. Because Turnips tend to produce multiples, and because the sell price is not that far below the seed price, you can make a tidy profit by sticking with Turnips throughout much of the Spring – not just at the start.

Radish

Best Overall Profit & Short Grow Time

Story of Seasons Best Early Crops Starting Seeds Radish
  • Days to Grow Radish: 5
  • Radish Seed Price: 126 G
  • Radish Seed Yield: 3 - 5
  • Base Radish Sale Value: 53 G

Radish seeds are the best seeds to get first in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar because they are the cheapest, have a short grow time, and produce a huge number of Radishes when harvested.

Players are virtually guaranteed to get at least 3x Radishes for each crop, providing a tidy profit for a small cost – but Radish seeds tend to drop more than 3 crops at a time, which adds G to your profit each time the crop's drops are maxed.

All of this is quite nice, but the main value of buying Radish seeds first in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar is the price of its seeds. At 126 G per seed pack, you can just about fill out the entire first plot of land you are given on your farm in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar with your starting money.

If you're a bit short on money to completely fill out the first farm plot with Radish seeds, Story of Seasons players should search around town for hidden Gold Medals, which can be sold for 1,500 G each.

This snowballs you into being able to purchase better crops, and fill out more plots, later on. Plant as many Radish seeds as you can at the start of the game, and you'll have more G to funnel into your farm come the second round of crops.
