Netflix's Stranger Things exposes the dark alternative universe in Hawkins, Indiana called The Upside Down, and they are many creatures who have made a notable impression on fans. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and her friends battle these monsters on a regular basis, trying to protect one another along with their entire town, especially as many of the residents have no idea what's really going on.

As Stranger Things approaches its fifth and final season, one thing is clear: Eleven has her work cut out for her and season 4 introduced Vecna, the most horrifying monster yet. What other creatures are part of the thrilling world of Stranger Things?

Vecna

Vecna in Stranger Things

Vecna is inspired by the Dungeons and Dragons character and is a real force to be reckoned with. It's fascinating and thrilling to learn how 001 gets his powers and how Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower) turns into 001 and then, later, this pain-loving monster.

Vecna has a look that is the stuff of nightmares with black eyes, a dark nose, and a mouth that seems to sink into his face. When Eleven and her friends encounter him in season 4 of Stranger Things, they can't believe how frightening he is, and they are more sure than ever than Hawkins has more dark mysteries than they ever imagined. Vecna picks victims when they've experienced personal tragedies and trauma. He wants them to feel sad and awful before he makes them hear the sound of a ticking clock and then kills them while moving their limbs in odd positions.

The Vines

Some of the best scenes from Stranger Things include The Vines, which are some of the show's scariest monsters that can be found in the Upside Down. They exist in the hive mind of The Mind Flayer and several characters have interacted with them, including Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Will Byers (Noah Schnapp).

It's important to note that the vines can be set on fire, which gives the characters an advantage, but there's no doubt that they are terrifying to encounter. The vines contribute to the horrifying setting of the Upside Down, especially in season 4 when Vecna is constantly using the vines to trap and hurt his victims.

Demobats & Demodogs

The filming locations for Stranger Things depict a charming small town where, suddenly, the residents are having terrifying experiences, and that includes seeing some odd creatures who look genuinely scary. The Demogorgon is part of the Hive Mind in Stranger Things and also includes Demobats and Demodogs. While these names sound pretty cute, they are anything but endearing and adorable. Both look like mini Demogorgons and make screaming noises and open their mouths wide.

Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) finds a demodog who he names Dart and while he thinks that this is fun, it's actually horrifying that he comes into such close contact with it. And the creature is part of some of the scariest Stranger Things scenes. Dustin realizes that Dart is a bad pet to have when he keeps opening his mouth just as the Demogorgon does, and he has Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) give him advice on what to do. This storyline is a great example of their bond.

The humanoid creature The Demogorgon is the ultimate Stranger Things monster and fans can play The Demogorgon in Dead By Daylight. He looks like something out of a science-fiction movie and has a massive mouth that he opens when he screams and is able to pounce on someone. There is never a moment in Stranger Things when The Demogorgon doesn't feel like a big threat.

One of the most important things about The Demogorgon is how when he's about to go after an intended victim, the lights in the building where he is go on and off. This creates an atmosphere of terror and it's definitely effective.

When The Demogorgon takes Will in season 1 of Stranger Things and he is able to get away and go back home, his story doesn't end there, of course. The Mind Flayer is still in charge of Will's mind, which is why in the season 1 finale, he throws up a worm and sees the Upside Down, a sure sign of the trouble to come.

There are many questions, like whether Vecna created The Mind Flayer, and this creature is also called the Shadow Monster. The Mind Flayer is in charge of the hive mind in The Upside Down of demobats, vines, and Demogorgons. The Mind Flayer looks like a spider and is definitely not something that anyone wants to come into contact with.

The Spider Monster is another Stranger Things monster who is actually part of The Mind Flayer. He comes from Brimborn Steel Works and tries to kill Eleven. But when Eleven saves everyone and closes the gate at the Starcourt Mall, the creature can't reach the Upside Down anymore.
