With just over four months to go before Stranger Things season 5 premieres on Netflix, I'm ready to see Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and her friends again, and nervous about how they're going to stop Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) from destroying Hawkins, Indiana forever. Ever since the first season's premiere in the summer of 2016, I've been invested in the mystery of the Upside Down, and am also attached to every character.
After seeing the haunting Stranger Things season 5 poster, I was thrilled to watch the teaser today, and it lived up to my expectations. While I agree with other fans that the three-year-long wait has been frustrating, the teaser is a reminder of what an epic story this is, and I think the fifth and final season will be as good as everyone hopes.
Stranger Things Season 5 Needs To Give Nancy And Jonathan An Actual Storyline
Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers are two important Stranger Things characters, but they need a lot more to do.
I Love The Emotional Stranger Things Season 5 Teaser And Think The Long Wait Will Be Worth It
The Stranger Things season 5 teaser is thrilling, memorable, and intriguing, and I think the final eight episodes will deliver on the satisfying ending that fans hope for. Although many storylines are still a mystery, including whether Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) is going to survive, I think the teaser shares enough plot details and character moments to get everyone excited again. Since fans have been concerned about waiting more than three years for new episodes, this teaser needed to be well-crafted. Thankfully, it's as good as I hoped for.
Although I would have been thrilled to see the fifth and final season a lot earlier, I understand the long wait because this footage looks incredible. I'm impressed with the story the Duffer Brothers have told so far, and I'm glad that the showrunners and creators committed to a 2025 release.
While watching the main characters work together once again to save each other, I couldn't help but tear up. The teaser is a reminder that Stranger Things is a show about the significance of the friendships you have when you're a kid and teenager. While the show's sci-fi elements are of course important, and I can't wait to see Vecna again because he's such a strong villain, these relationships draw people in the most. I want Stranger Things season 5 to have plenty of moving scenes where The Party connects even more, and it looks like that's going to happen.
One of my favorite moments in the Stranger Things season 5 teaser is when Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) stares at Eddie Munson's (Joseph Quinn) grave, which has been vandalized. As Dustin angrily looks at the words "Burn in hell," fans are reminded of the strong bond that developed between the two characters before Eddie's tragic season 4 death. Although I'm not convinced that the final season needs to feature Eddie in a cheesy flashback or dream sequence, I like that he's mentioned at least briefly. This is a powerful and moving scene that drives home the pain and suffering that the main characters have experienced ever since Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) first disappeared into the Upside Down.
While of course the final season of a long-running TV show needs to deliver big emotions and exciting moments, there have to be some nostalgic scenes, too. I think the final season of Stranger Things will deliver on both those fronts. Every time the characters huddle together to figure out a plan or hide from the Upside Down's creatures, I can't help but remember all the heartwarming times when they helped each other over the past four seasons. I also think that the action looks more exciting than ever, and the stakes have definitely been raised.
