Spoilers for Stranger Things: Season 5, Vol. 1

Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 was everything that we expected. It was surely amazing seeing the Hawkins gang standing strong against Vecna and his Upside Down army. Henry Creel was defeated in Season 4, but he returned much stronger in the fifth season.

Of course, Eleven, Hopper, and everyone else took the fight in their own ways, but the one who truly surprised everyone in the fifth season was none other than Will Byers. Honestly, Will was the first one to encounter the horrors of Upside Down, so it's understandable why we've only seen him taking a back seat in the story. But that has changed; the story has now come full circle by giving Will a power-up in Season 5. The boy finally has the chance to tame the monster that's been haunting him for years.

Will Byers Finally Takes A Stand Against Vecna in Stranger Things Season 5

He Uses The Hive Mind To Defeat Demogorgons In A Very Vecna-Like Fashion

The very first episode of the fifth season takes us back to the time when Will was stuck in the Upside Down. In the flashback, we see that Vecna made Will a part of the Hive Mind. Basically, the Hive Mind allows Vecna to see and control the Upside Down monsters and see what they are seeing. And by making Will a part of the family, Vecna was able to spy into the real world through Will. Remember Season 2 when Will was confirmed to be Vecna's spy? Well, that's how Vecna was able to do that.

At first, only Vecna was able to use the Hive Mind to get inside Will's mind. But it seems like, with time, this connection has evolved. That's because in Season 5 of Stranger Things, whenever a Demogorgon is close by, Will is able to sense its pain. Not only that, but he is able to see through the Demogorgon's eyes . It's basically like he's inside the minds of these monsters.

That's cool, but Will sees this as a curse and nothing more. That's why he never thought of using the Hive Mind to his advantage. However, after Robin's pep talk and Vecna's trash talk, Will finally embraces his true identity. He accepts himself for who he is and controls the Demogorgons, who were just about to kill his friends. Will basically taps into Vecna's powers using the Hive Mind. He not only prevents the monsters from attacking, but he also kills them in a brutal fashion. We all remember how Vecna killed his victims in the fourth season. He first broke their limbs and finally their necks. Well, that's exactly how Will kills the Demogorgons, and he kills three at once, which is truly impressive.

Will Byers Will Possibly Use The Demogorgon Army Against Vecna

So far, we've only seen the Demogorgons fighting for Vecna, but things will likely change in the next part of Season 5. For now, Will has learned how to tap into Vecna's powers and use them to kill the Upside Down Monsters. But the next step for Will would be controlling their minds and turning the Demogorgons against Vecna. And honestly, Vecna would be extremely furious to see his own deadly power used against his army.

Honestly, seeing Will taking the driver's front seat in this fight, along with Eleven and Eight, will be a sight to behold. This guy has suffered the most at the hands of Vecna, so he deserves to be the one to take down this monster. The only sad part is that we will have to wait until next month to see this happen, as Volume 2 of Stranger Things Season 5 is scheduled to drop on December 25, and the final volume will release on New Year's Eve.
