Street Fighter 6 is the latest entry in the franchise, which initially launched for other systems in 2023. With the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, though, it was revealed that Street Fighter 6 would be a launch day title for the upcoming Nintendo system. While that would have been enough to get a lot of fans excited, it was also revealed that Street Fighter 6 would be getting its own set of amiibo, as well as amiibo cards.

Nintendo Amiibo Are Getting More Expensive

Nintendo's popular line of Amiibo figures are going to be receiving a price hike with the first line of figures for the Switch 2.

Now, it's been revealed that the amiibo cards for Street Fighter 6 will be available exclusively at GameStop stores. The Street Fighter 6 amiibo Card Starter Set will cost $39.99, and comes with 22 cards based off the fighters in the game, and GameStop is accepting pre-orders as of this writing. The card selection includes the base roster of Street Fighter 6 as well as its Year 1 Character Pass roster. Interestingly, there is some overlap, as the starter set includes cards for Jamie, Kimberly, and Luke, who are also getting their own full-fledged Street Fighter 6 amiibo figurines.

According to the description, fans can expect the amiibo and the amiibo cards to work similarly to how they do in other games. Street Fighter 6 players will be able to use amiibo to save player settings, such as a preferred character outfit or button settings, and they can also be used to unlock photo frames and device wallpapers.

When the Nintendo Switch 2 was in the earlier stages of development, many fans wondered if the amiibo trend would continue with the company. Amiibo have been around since the Wii U, later arriving for the 3DS and Nintendo Switch consoles. Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be amiibo-compatible, with the Street Fighter 6 amiibo being some of the first confirmed for a game arriving on the system.

At the moment, Capcom and Nintendo haven't announced if further waves of amiibo will be released based on later additions to the Street Fighter 6 roster. The "Starter Set" name likely indicates that more cards are planned, however. It's easy to imagine that many fans will happily pick up the amiibo figures, given that they're a fairly affordable collectible that can celebrate one's favorite character, but amiibo card demand tends to be more mixed. However, with the entire card set of all 22 characters costing the same as a single Street Fighter 6 amiibo figure, the card set could be quite popular.
