PC gaming has plenty going for it. With a powerful enough rig, they can offer the best-looking games with the best frame rates with the best controls. Albeit usually after a little configuration. But even if players had a bog-standard computer that could only run games at the console level, they could still tweak everything within the games via mods.
For some, it’s the biggest reason why they play games on the PC rather than any console. Unfortunately, some games are more mod-friendly than others, and Street Fighter 6 became particularly anti-mod after a few updates. Its Enigma Protector DRM disabled several mods, possibly in response to Corner2Corner’s Chun-Li incident. But thankfully, there are some character mods for SF6 from NexusMods that still work and look great.
Fluffy Mod Manager
- Creator: FluffyQuack.
- NexusMods Page: Fluffy Mod Manager.
Since SF6’s updates are likely to affect all potential mods here, it’ll be worth players’ time to consider downloading the Fluffy Mod Manager. It enables adding mods by modifying the game’s PAK files. Players just drag & drop their preferred mod in RAR, ZIP, or 7ZIP format into the manager, then install them with a click.
They can also be uninstalled just as quickly if players fancy changing one mod out for another. The only hassle is that, if the game gets patched/updated in a way that affects mods, players will have to uninstall, re-read game archives, and then reinstall their preferred mods. But it makes that process as straightforward as possible. The Manager also works with Dragon’s Dogma 2, Resident Evil 2 Remake, and RE8 among other titles.
1 DMC5 Costumes
Endorsements: 250 (Ken Dante), 153 (JP Vergil), 437 (Manon Lady), 623 (Lily Nico)
- Creator: monkeygigabuster.
- NexusMods Pages: DMC5 Dante Outfit for Ken, DMC5 Vergil Outfit for JP, DMC5 Lady Outfit for Manon, DMC5 Nico Outfit for Lily.
Devil May Cry 5 was a great game and a neat return for the classic DMC cast. Street Fighter 5 gave a few characters some official DMC costumes (one which was banned at tournaments), but SF6 hasn’t added any self-referential costumes like that (yet). Luckily, monkeygigabuster made his own DMC Costume mods for fans to apply to key characters.
With just a download, players can put Ken back in Dante’s red trenchcoat, then dress JP up as Vergil to add a little smokin’ sick style to their clashes. If one prefers DMC’s ladies or likes playing as Manon and/or Lily, they can modify them to dress up as Lady and Nico, respectively. For an extra little touch, the Nico-Lily mod replaces her clubs with Agni & Rudra from DMC3.
2 Resident Evil Costumes
Endorsements: 417 (Juri Ashley), 117 (AKI Ashley), 303 (Ken Leon), 22 (Ed Leon), 153 (Rashid Luis), 222 (Guile Wesker), 14 (Bison Wesker), 287 (Chun-Li RE6 Ada)
- Creator: monkeygigabuster.
- NexusMods Pages: RE4 Remake Ashley Casual Outfit for Juri, RE4 Remake Ashley Romance Outfit for AKI, RE4 Remake Leon Outfit for Ken, RE4 Remake Leon Casual Outfit for Ed, RE4 Remake Luis Sera Mod for Rashid, RE4 Remake Albert Wesker Outfit for Guile, RE4 Remake Wesker Suit for M.Bison, RE6 Ada Wong Outfit for Chun-Li.
If players prefer Resident Evil to DMC, especially the stellar RE4 Remake, monkeygigabuster also has costume mods for that game. In fact, as of now, they’ve got seven on offer for players to work with. Juri can be dressed up in Ashley’s Casual 2000s Emo outfit, while AKI dons Ashley’s Romance outfit (clearly a Bad Romance given her odd feelings for Fang Fei).
21 Best Resident Evil 4 Mods You Need To Install
Resident Evil 4 is a fantastic game in its own right, but modders have made it even better. Here are some of the best mods available.
Ken and Ed can dress in Leon’s regular and casual outfits respectively, while Rashid can put on Luis Sera’s clothes. Guile can also be dressed up as Wesker, but if the All-American Air Force pilot seems like an odd fit for RE’s main villain, Bison can be modded up in Wesker’s suit instead. MrMorritos3D had already made a RE4R Ada costume for Chun-Li, which is good. However, monkeygigabuster made one based on her RE6 design that works as an effective alternative.
3 Chun-Li’s Tifa Cosplay
Endorsements: 679
- Creator: SweetFluff3D.
- NexusMods Page: Chun-Li Tifa Cosplay Outfit 01.
There are quite a few mods where SF6's women can be dressed up as Final Fantasy 7’s Tifa Lockheart. JustBenjiThings gave AKI her Wall Market dress, while Haise Sasaki and CrystalMang0 went for her classic black & white garb for Cammy and Kimberly, respectively. They do come with nice details, like Tifa’s black undershirt from her Remake design, and a brown-haired 2P version for Kimberly.
But if players want her old-school look (no undershirt, no pleats) from the original FF7, SweetFluff3D gave it to Chun-Li. It’s comparatively simple compared to the others, with Chun-Li retaining her hair buns over Tifa’s long locks. But it’s a strong cosplay mod with some neat textures and details, like the chunky elbow armor and all-red gloves. That, and Chun-Li's graceful but smash-mouth kick-heavy style fits Tifa better than Cammy, AKI, and Kimberly's more dainty strikes.
4 Kimberly’s Jade Cosplay
Endorsements: 223
- Creator: FishB0Y
- NexusMods Page: Jade Kimberly.
With the buzz over SF6 bringing in Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury/King of Fighters, fans began wondering if there would be more guest characters to come, with Mortal Kombat’s Sub-Zero becoming a trending topic. In an interview with VG 24/7, director/producer Takayuki Nakayama was open to including him, albeit noting “Obviously, I can’t make any promises.” Still, whether SF and MK will finally clash officially is up in the air.
But fans can do it unofficially by dressing Kimberly up as MK's underrated green kunoichi Jade. While she doesn’t come with her trademark staff, it does have her fetching look from MK3, with some neat additional details like green hair highlights. The mask can come off if players want to keep Kimberly's face uncovered, but MK's ninjas don't feel complete without the full ensemble.
5 Mayor Zangief
Endorsements: 448
- Creator: monkeygigabuster.
- NexusMods Page: Metro City Mayor Outfit for Zangief.
Haggar is perhaps the last big Final Fight character that’s never appeared in an SF game. He was planned to be SF2’s big grappler until the developers felt Final Fight and SF should be kept separate. Instead, they gave Zangief Haggar’s moves, then let irony set in over the decades. Since, after years of playing as Guy, Cody, Rolento, Sodom, Hugo, Poison, and Abigail, Haggar’s grown more conspicuous by his absence.
5 Most Iconic Mayors From Games
These mayors made famous by their respective video games are some of the most iconic characters in gaming history.
Luckily, he can be added to the game in spirit via monkeygigabuster’s Mayor Zangief mod. The Russian wrestler not only has Haggar’s lariats and piledriver (albeit with his own spin on the move), but this mod gives him Haggar's business suit. Players can even give him Haggar’s hairstyle to nearly complete the look, or stick to his classic mohawk. However, they can't change his beard to Haggar's mustache. Not yet, at any rate.
6 Cammy As Spider-Gwen
Endorsements: 560 (Maskless), 242 (Masked), 119 (Gwen Head)
- Creator: MrMorritos3D.
- NexusMods Pages: Spider Gwen Only Costume (Cammy), Masked Gwen Spiderman (Cammy), Spider Gwen Spiderman (Cammy).
The Spider-Man: Across/Beyond the Spider-Verse movies are perhaps some of the best Spider-Man movies around and introduced fans to a new wave of Spider-variants. One of the more notable ones is Spider-Gwen, where Peter Parker’s girlfriend became the one with spider powers in an alternate timeline. Some know her as Ghost Spider or Spider-Woman, but Spider-Gwen became the name that stuck.
With Cammy being a blonde, aerial fighter, she became a great fit for MrMorritos3D’s Spider-Gwen mod. There are separate forms that let her keep her mask and hood on or slip them off. There’s also another one where she gets Spider-Gwen’s actual, expressionless head, but since Cammy already looks like Spider-Gwen, it’s best to stick with the mask/maskless variants.
7 DOA’s Kasumi Over Kimberly
Endorsements: 53
- Creator: penguinSempy.
- NexusMods Page: Kasumi over Kimberly REDONE.
Though why go for a mere costume when one can put in whole new characters? PenguinSempy’s mod replaces SF6’s funky 80s-loving graffiti ninja Kimberly with Dead or Alive’s runaway shinobi Kasumi. They made an earlier version of the mod that had trouble working with the game, but they remade it from scratch to provide a more stable alternative.
It essentially uses Kasumi’s DOA6 model in Kimberly’s place, complete with her animations. As such, she’ll be a cheerier, more dancey version of the pensive pugilist. But she looks like the real deal, and Kimberly’s moves give her some quick kunoichi combos. That said, if players like the idea of Kimberly in Kasumi's black catsuit more than taking Kasumi in overall, players can delete two folders to turn it into a costume mod instead.
8 The Shotos Become Saiyan
Endorsements: 356 (Goku), 235 (Goku UI), 228 (Vegeta), 115 (Majin Vegeta), 107 (UE Vegeta)
- Creator: MrMorritos3D.
- NexusMods Pages: Goku Dragon Ball (Ryu), Goku UI Dragon Ball (Ryu), Vegeta Dragon Ball (Ken), Vegeta Majin Dragon Ball (Ken), Vegeta Ultra Ego Dragon Ball (Ken).
Thanks to buffs, Ryu has gone from being low-mid tier in SF6, to just about nipping at the heels of S-Tier, according to Mobalytics.gg. Even so, all it takes to rocket up the ranks is a little confidence, as ElChakotay managed to win Combo Breaker with Lily, the lowest-ranked character in the game. Perhaps if Ryu was modded to look like the strongest hero in multiple universes, players could get the mood boost they need.
Dragon Ball: The 20 Most Powerful Saiyans, Ranked According To Strength
Saiyans are some of Dragon Ball's strongest characters. Like Goku and Vegeta, these are the most powerful Saiyans of them all.
MrMorritos3D has two mods based on Goku from Dragon Ball Z for Ryu, which requires the Fluffy Mod Manager to add them. One uses his base model from Jump Force, while the other alters it to look like Goku in Ultra Instinct mode. If players prefer Vegeta, the Prince of All Saiyans, MrMorritos3D uses his JF model for Ken, with regular, Majin, and Ultra Ego versions for players to peruse.
9 JP Becomes Snoop Dogg
Endorsements: 232
- Creator: MrMorritos3D.
- NexusMods Page: Snoop Dogg JP Outfit.
DBZ is all well and good, but there’s only so much the Saiyans can do against a foe that can Knocc ‘Em Down. MrMoritos3D replaces JP’s features with the legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, likely using assets from Def Jam: Fight from New York as the face is, admittedly, low poly. It also tweaks JP’s costume a touch, with undershirt logos and tattoos.
The biggest difference is that it replaces JP’s cane with a different kind of blunt object, so to speak. JP’s cane is his deadliest tool, even after some significant nerfs. So it’s only fitting Snoop uses his "cane" to torment his foes. Outside Def Jam and his cameo in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, this may be the closest Snoop himself gets to appearing in a fighting game. Then again, stranger things have happened.
