The story of Chainsaw Man has come a long way since the first chapter/episode, and the lineup of the strongest characters has changed a great deal in that time, too. Early on, characters like the sinister Makima, Santa Claus, and Quanxi ranked high among the most fearsome fighters in Chainsaw Man's shonen world. However, a number of cast members have since died or been surpassed by newer characters.

By this point in Chainsaw Man's Academy Saga, it's clear who the top dogs are as Denji continues his struggles as the half-devil Chainsaw Man. Shocking new powers and terrifying new devils are now the headliners in Chainsaw Man, and most of them are the strongest cast members at the moment. Aside from the kind-of human Denji, the strongest Chainsaw Man characters right now are mostly devils, which says something about how far the power scaling has come by now.

Chainsaw Man: Most Powerful Devils, Ranked

The Chainsaw Man manga series' beastly Devils come in various forms. Here are the strongest ones, ranked.

Quanxi Remains One of the Most Dangerous Assassins in Chainsaw Man

Quanxi Only Sporadically Appears Nowadays

The Chinese assassin Quanxi may rank last among the most powerful characters in Chainsaw Man's latest chapters, but she is still a fighter to take seriously. Ever since her debut in the International Assassins Arc in the first saga, Quanxi has been setting a scarily high bar for all human fighters, with or without devil allies. Quanxi is even stronger with her female fiend allies, but she can also fight effectively without them.

Quanxi puts even veteran devil hunters like Kishibe to shame with her superhuman physical abilities and peerless skills. If necessary, Quanxi can also use devilish powers of her own to become a spiky creature that fears practically no foe on the battlefield. Notably, most human characters in Chainsaw Man perish sooner or later, but Quanxi has beaten the odds for 226 chapters and counting.

Denji/Chainsaw Man Keeps Fighting Like a Maniac Against All Devil Foes

Denji is Still the Underdog, But Never Gives Up For Long

The lonely protagonist himself, Denji, isn't on track to become top dog anytime soon. Other shonen leads such as Naruto Uzumaki and Deku typically become the most powerful fighter by the end of the story, but despite his many powers, Denji isn't doing the same. That said, Denji is quite formidable and has unbelievable tenacity in any battle.

Chainsaw Man: 8 Strongest Characters In The Reze Arc Movie, Ranked

These characters stick out as the absolute strongest in the new Reze movie.

Denji's hands-on creativity and reckless courage allow him to take stronger foes by surprise when he abandons caution. That alone gives Denji an edge in combat, and he can augment it with stronger versions of himself with extra chainsaw blades if need be. Though Denji has a tough time against the Four Horsemen and primordial devils, he's still in the fight, and that counts for a lot.

Fami is Like a Puppetmaster For the Starved

She is Also the Death Devil is Disguise

There is some overlap between Fami, the horseman of famine, and the Death Devil. For now, the Death Devil is actually dead, so Fami remains one of the most powerful fighters in Chainsaw Man's manga at the moment. She had a rather meek outward appearance at first while posing as a high school student, but Chainsaw Man's characters have been fooled before by deadly girls posing as someone innocent or lovable, such as Reze herself.

Fami has a number of noteworthy abilities that help her compete with all the powerful characters around her, including high-speed teleportation to evade danger or get close to he foes. Most significantly, Fami may use enslavement on the hungry to control them, wielding them as pawns in battle. With that ability, Fami can even seized control of primordial devils, though her pawns tend to be a little weaker than they normally are.

The Aging Devil Seems Impossible to Kill

Primordial Fears Are Permanently Linked to Humanity

The primordial, or primal, devils are a cut above most of their kind. These horrific creatures from Hell represent the most fundamental and widespread fears of all, as opposed to more niche or specialized fears, such as arachnophobia or thalassophobia. The Aging Devil is one such primordial, and it's a fine example of how the primordial devils are immortal or very close to it.

The Aging Devil ranks fairly high among the most powerful Chainsaw Man characters alive right now simply because it easily shrugs off any attempt to slay it. Not even Pochita and his fierce chainsaws can take apart the Aging Devil in the face of this devil's rapid regeneration. The Aging Devil can also send Denji flying with a single punch, which is no mean feat.

The Darkness Devil Remains One of the Scariest Beings in Hell

Denji Won't Soon Forget the Horrors of The Primordial Darkness Devil

One of the first primordial devils to ever appear in the pages of Chainsaw Man's manga is the nightmarish Darkness Devil itself. This eerie being may be silent and doesn't try to intimidate people, but it's not to be underestimated. It can casually detach everyone's arms to pacify them in an eyeblink, a gruesome and effective way to dominate any battlefield, such as in Hell itself.

The Darkness Devil will gladly attack anyone who gets too close, and precious few characters can resist its onslaught. This creature uses a variety of means to fight, from deadly telekinesis to a sharp blade of darkness to physical attacks. It's fortunate for Denji that the Darkness Devil hardly ever appears, but it did appear again recently in the manga, so Denji must keep his guard up.

The Gun Devil is Like a Force of Nature

It Seems Nothing Can Stop the Gun Devil

Although the Gun Devil is not actually a primordial devil, it easily competes with or even surpasses those beings. The fear of firearms isn't nearly as ancient as fears of old age or darkness, yet the sheer proliferation of arms in the world ensured that the Gun Devil is a true monster. Some exposition from earlier in Chainsaw Man's manga made this being's apocalyptic power clear.

The Gun Devil is the one that can race across the landscape while slaughtering thousands of people with bullets, the kind of feat that not even the Aging, Falling, or Darkness Devils could pull off so easily. It's little wonder that even mere chunks of the Gun Devil's flesh are important plot points, such as when Makima asked Denji to collect some.

Yoru Has Managed to Surpass Death as the Most Lethal Devil on the Battlefield

Yoru's State-Sized Weapons Are the Bane of Denji's Existence at the Moment

Despite the presence of primordial fears, the horseman devil Yoru, the War Devil, is the manga's top fighter at the moment. It didn't always seem that way, but Yoru has recently unleashed some truly devastating power on a scale never before seen in Chainsaw Man's manga. Yoru is holding nothing back in her current duel with Chainsaw Man, to the point entire states in the USA are nothing but weapons in her hands.

Chainsaw Man keeps upping the ante with devilish powers, and Yoru is leading the charge with her Michigan Blade. She has always been seen turning the things around her into weapons, from school supplies to human bodies, but using an entire state is simply incredible. Millions of people were displaced and many buildings were ruined when Yoru created her Michigan Blade, and she may still have more power. Time will tell how Denji will overcome odds like these.
