As fans look forward to the upcoming sequel to Subnautica, Unknown Worlds has revealed that the original game is coming to iOS and Android mobile devices very soon. The original Subnautica is available across most major platforms already, including PC, Nintendo Switch, and the Xbox and PlayStation families of consoles, though few were expecting the seven year-old game to see an official mobile launch in 2025.

Dropping players alone and unequipped into the oceans of an alien planet, Subnautica offers a distinct blend of wonder and pure terror. Players are tasked with braving new environments and deeper depths in search of resources, technology blueprints, and an answer to how they crash landed on a world countless light years from civilization. The game has received various free updates since its official release in 2018, along with the spin-off title Subnautica: Below Zero, which expands the game's rich sci-fi universe and further deepens its story.

Subnautica 2 Is the Devs’ 'Most Ambitious' Survival Game Yet

Unknown Worlds Entertainment says Subnautica 2 is the “most ambitious” entry in the franchise to date, teasing exciting new content for players.

Subnautica has since become widely regarded as one of the best indie games ever released, and surpassed over 5 million copies sold just two years after its launch. Now, with an official sequel well on the way, developer Unknown Worlds has confirmed that the game will be coming to iOS and Android mobile devices on July 8th. To bring the game to this new platform, the Subnautica developer partnered with Playdigious, a publisher that has previously helped port games including Little Nightmares and Don't Starve Together to mobile devices. The mobile version of Subnautica is confirmed to contain the full game and all of its features, along with intuitive touch controls, controller support, and more.
