In a new promotional spot, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League recently demonstrated how it will use the PlayStation 5’s many technical features to create an immersive experience. After several delays since its initial announcement in 2020, Rocksteady will finally continue its massively popular Arkhamverse franchise later this year in Suicide Squad. As its name implies, this spin-off action shooter will shift the spotlight over to the rogues of Task Force X, a covert unit of captured supervillains charged with a dangerous mission: eliminate the heroes of the Justice League after they are taken over by the evil Brainiac.

Over the past few months, Rocksteady has been slowly giving fans more details about Suicide Squad’s plot and gameplay, which will see players take control of a fiendish quartet of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang as they run, jump, and shoot their way through Superman’s home city of Metropolis amid an alien invasion. Rocksteady’s past superhero titles have been praised for their immersive atmospheres, such as Batman: Arkham Asylum’s nightmarish psychiatric facility and Batman: Arkham City’s crime-ridden, open-world prison city.

In keeping with this, the PS5 has a few features that can help immerse players in the battle against the brainwashed Justice League in the upcoming Suicide Squad game. These features were shown in a recent video posted on the official Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League YouTube channel, consisting of previously shown clips of Task Force X in action. The PS5 DualSense controller’s Haptic Feedback vibration boosts the rumble of explosions, while the Adaptive Triggers allow players to feel the weight of Deadshot’s triggers or Captain Boomerang’s boomerang throws. Lastly, 3D Audio from the PS5’s Pulse Wireless headphones puts players in the heart of Metropolis through enhanced sound.

Reactions to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League have been mixed since its original announcement, with some players anxious to jump back into the Arkhamverse while others are more skeptical. This division would only grow after Rocksteady revealed that Suicide Squad will feature an RPG-like gear system and initially require players to remain online even while playing solo, though a recent closed alpha test of the game was met with a warmer response back in November.

Play as the Suicide Squad to take down the World’s Greatest DC Super Heroes, The Justice League. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, is a genre-defying, action-adventure third-person shooter from Rocksteady Studios, creators of the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series. 

Featuring an original narrative set within an expansive open-world city of Metropolis, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League puts the four DC Super-Villains on a collision course with an invading alien force and DC Super Heroes who are now laser-focused on destroying the city they once vowed to protect. All the while, the Suicide Squad must be mindful of the lethal explosives implanted in their heads that could go off at the first sign of defiance.

Each squad member has their own unique moveset with enhanced traversal abilities to freely explore the dynamic open-world of Metropolis, along with a variety of weapons to customize, and skills to master.
