Nintendo Reveals New Content for Super Mario Bros. Wonder
As part of its Super Mario Bros 40th anniversary announcements, Nintendo confirmed a special Switch 2 edition of Wonder. Interestingly enough, the reveal focused on the multiplayer side of the game with a new location called Bellabel Park. The plaza features both cooperative and competitive missions and activities, like collecting the most coins, a tag-style game, a Bob-omb relay race, and many more. However, in addition to the party games, Nintendo also teased single-player additions as well, potentially new levels and areas to explore, but left that for a future announcement.
In addition to the new content announcement, Nintendo also revealed a physical version of the Talking Flowers in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Releasing next Spring, these Talking Flowers, based on the in-game version, are much bigger than a normal-sized Amiibo figure and can actually speak. Yoshiaki Koizumi showcased the physical device, confirming that it sometimes speaks on its own as well. However, there appears to be a big button on the front that can be pressed, which likely triggers one of the catchphrases as well.
Nintendo was pretty busy with its Mario-related announcements, while also confirming the next animated movie as the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, with the cast from the first film returning. From a games standpoint, one of the biggest announcements was a new Switch 2 collection featuring both Galaxy titles. Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 is launching on October 2, though unlike other Switch 2 enhanced ports, Nintendo didn't confirm any new improvements or content.
