Nintendo has detailed the changes and improvements that the Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Party Jamboree is set to introduce. The novelties were outlined in a comprehensive promo video, released alongside two new Super Mario Party Jamboree commercials.

The latest party game from the recently renamed developer Nintendo Cube debuted on the Switch in mid-October 2024. Three months later, Nintendo officially announced the Switch 2, subsequently stating that many of its games will get new and improved versions that leverage the capabilities of its next console. Super Mario Party Jamboree was later confirmed as one of the titles slated for the Switch 2 Edition treatment, which Nintendo said would include a Jamboree TV mode. However, the company didn't provide many details on the extent of its other planned changes at the time.

Nintendo Switch 2 Leak Shows Familiar-Looking UI

A newly emerged Switch 2 leak suggests Nintendo took basically no risks when designing the user interface of its upcoming console.

The Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Party Jamboree is now much less of a mystery, following a newly published feature overview video from Nintendo Japan. The four-minute clip, first spotted by Gematsu, promises alternate control schemes making use of the Switch 2 Camera and the Joy-Con 2's mouse mode. On a similar note, the new version of Super Mario Party Jamboree will also include support for voice commands in a bid to take advantage of the device's built-in microphone. Voice controls, which will presumably also be compatible with external microphones, will only be available situationally, like during the Carnival Coaster and Bowser Live segments.

Support for the Switch 2 Camera accessory will also extend to the previously announced Jamboree TV mode, allowing players to appear inside the game and take part in game show-like activities along with fan-favorite characters. While it remains to be seen whether the Switch 2 Camera will gain significant traction, Nintendo has been promoting it as a key selling point of its next console for several months now. The upcoming system’s flagship launch title, Mario Kart World, will also feature Switch 2 Camera integration. As for Super Mario Party Jamboree, its new edition is now confirmed to support GameShare, allowing up to four players to experience it with a single copy of the game. Visual improvements will also be part of the package, most notably support for WQHD (1440p) resolution in docked mode and 1080p resolution during handheld play.

New Super Mario Party Jamboree Commercials

Alongside its latest video overview, Nintendo Japan released two new Super Mario Party Jamboree commercials. In addition to showcasing several of the game's activities, the promos also offer a preview of some of its Switch 2-exclusive features, like the aforementioned Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.

The new version of the 2024 party game will have a wordy title: Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. It's scheduled for release on July 24, approximately seven weeks after Nintendo's next-gen console hits the store shelves. At least 11 other Switch 1 games will be getting paid Switch 2 upgrades in the coming months, while a similar number of titles will get to benefit from the new hardware at no extra cost during the same period.
