Summary

  • Super Mario Party Jamboree boasts a record-breaking 21 playable characters, including fan favorites like Mario and Bowser Jr.
  • With seven vibrant and diverse game boards, including new additions like Goomba Lagoon and Mega Wiggler's Tree Party, the game offers plenty of variety.
  • Players can look forward to an impressive 110 minigames in different categories, with the option to disable motion-controlled games.

The Super Mario franchise has no shortage of spinoffs. Some of these Mario spinoffs are as popular as the mainline platforming series, getting regular releases and raking in millions of players at a time, like Mario Kart, while some spinoffs are still popular, but appear much less frequently, like Mario Strikers. The Mario Party spinoff series finds itself closer to the former camp, with a new mainline release dropping at least once every few years since 1998, and Super Mario Party Jamboree is the next up to bat.

Set for an October 17 2024 release, Super Mario Party Jamboree is set to be the biggest Mario Party to date, featuring more playable characters and minigames than any entry in series history. But there's even more hiding under Mario Party Jamboree's surface, and fans can already get a good picture of what they can expect in October.

Best Games To Play If You Love The Super Mario Franchise In 2024

Nintendo's Super Mario represents the platform genre at its best, and the same can be said for these modern games.

What Fans Can Expect From Super Mario Party Jamboree

Super Mario Party Jamboree Has More Playable Characters Than Ever Before

On launch, Super Mario Party Jamboree will feature a total of 21 playable characters, which is more than any previous Mario Party entry. The full playable roster in Super Mario Party Jamboree is as follows:

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Yoshi
  • Princess Peach
  • Princess Daisy
  • Rosalina
  • Toad
  • Toadette
  • Birdo
  • Wario
  • Waluigi
  • Bowser
  • Bowser Jr.
  • Donkey Kong
  • Shy Guy
  • Koopa Troopa
  • Goomba
  • Spike
  • Boo
  • Monty Mole
  • Ninji

Super Mario Party Jamboree's playable roster is filled with all of the usual franchise staples fans would expect to see, such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, and Yoshi, along with plenty of newer Mario Party additions like Bowser Jr. And Spike. The Super Mario Bros. 2 enemy Ninji is also making its Mario Party debut in Super Mario Party Jamboree, coming hot off the heels of its relatively recent appearance in last year's Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Super Mario Party Jamboree Will Launch With 7 Boards

Super Mario Party Jamboree isn't skimping out when it comes to game boards either. One of the biggest criticisms of the last few Mario Party entries has been their lack of new boards, with Super Mario Party having just four, and Mario Party Superstars only featuring remakes of previous entries' boards. Super Mario Party Jamboree offers an ideal compromise, delivering five all-new game boards, and two remakes, bringing the game's total number of boards up to seven:

  • King Bowser's Keep
  • Roll 'em Raceway
  • Goomba Lagoon
  • Mega Wiggler's Tree Party
  • Rainbow Galleria
  • Mario's Rainbow Castle (Returning from Mario Party 1)
  • Western Land (Returning from Mario Party 2)

All five of Super Mario Party Jamboree's new game boards look suitably bright and colorful, with plenty of distinct gimmicks to set them apart from those that have come before. Goomba Lagoon, for instance, features a tide mechanic that sees certain spaces get blocked by the rising waves, while Mega Wiggler's Tree Party allows players to hop on the back of the eponymous creature to access new pathways. Super Mario Party Jamboree's two returning boards look like great remakes as well, with Mario Party 1's Mario's Rainbow Castle board now featuring 3D textures and layering effects.

Super Mario Party Jamboree Will Feature More Minigames Than Any Previous Entry

The final – and maybe the largest – cherry on top of Super Mario Party Jamboree's cake is its 110 minigames. Just like its playable characters, this is the highest number of minigames that have ever appeared in a Mario Party title at launch. These 110 minigames will be split up into the usual categories, such as Free-for-all, 2v2, 1v3, and Team. Motion-controlled minigames will also be making a return in Jamboree, though players will have the option to disable them if they wish.
