Super Mario RPG may be a linear adventure, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t go off course every once in a while. The game offers a handful of side quests that you can complete for some sweet rewards.
One such quest will have Mario exploring the world of Super Mario RPG for three Musty Fear flags. It is a well-known fact that most gamers don't enjoy fetch quests, but this one proves itself worth doing, as it offers players an incredible reward that will make future battles significantly easier.
How To Start The Three Musty Fears Side Quest
This side quest becomes accessible once you reach Monstro Town. The first thing you would need to do is head inside the door on the right under the staircase, as shown in the image above. Next, you need to turn off the mushroom lamp and rest on the bed. While sleeping, three ghosts will show up and ask Mario to find the three flags.
It is important to note that all three flags are invisible and will only appear once the player presses "A" near their location.
The Greaper Flag Location
The Greaper Flag is located in Rose Town, situated in the Tadpole Pond Region. Fast travel there and head behind the Welcome sign at the entrance. Here, you can press "A," and Mario will grab the first flag.
The Dry Bones Flag Location
The Dry Bones flag is present in the same location where Mario's journey began. Players need to head to Mario's house in the Mushroom Kingdom Region. The second flag can be grabbed from underneath the bed, inside Mario's house.
The Boo Flag Location
The third and final flag is situated on Yo'ster Isle. You need to fast travel there and head toward the GOAL sign at the end of the racetrack. The Boo flag will be present between the "O" and "A."
How To Complete The Three Musty Fears Side Quest
Now that you are in possession of all three flags, head back to the place where the quest began and sleep on the bed once again. The three ghosts will appear and reward Mario with a Ghost Medal, which is a must-have accessory as it halves the damage taken by Mario in battles. It will be auto-equipped, so players don't have to worry about assigning it themselves.
