GameStop has brought back four Super Smash Bros. Ultimate compatible amiibos, giving fans a chance to pre-order some figures that had gone out of print a while ago. Amiibos are a set of collectible toy figures produced by Nintendo. The line was first released in 2014 as a part of the fourth Super Smash Bros. Game, where players could tap their amiibos onto their 3DS or Wii U to make the associated character appear in-game, train them to earn rewards, and gain new abilities. The Nintendo Switch kept its compatibility with the figures, with a lot of Super Smash Bros. Amiibo functionality carried over to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Many of the older figures based on the Wii U and 3DS game's roster can be used with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Ultimate would later release its own line of figures based on some of the newcomers or returning fighters, like Pichu, Sephiroth, and Sora. Many of these older figures have since gone out of print, making it hard for fans to find their favorite amiibo or complete their collection. Since last year, Nintendo has been restocking certain amiibo, with reprints of four figures from the Super Smash Bros. Line available for pre-order at GameStop right now.
These four restocked Super Smash Bros. Amiibo are based on Duck Hunt, Pikachu, R.O.B., and Charizard. All four of these amiibo are expected to ship on April 26, meaning fans will need to wait a month before receiving them. Fans might find it prudent to pre-order them sooner rather than later, as they might go out of stock before the new supply ships. Each amiibo costs roughly $15.99, making them one of the cheaper ways to obtain amiibo from a retailer.
Super Smash Bros. GameStop Restock
- Duck Hunt (releasing April 26, 2024)
- R.O.B. (Releasing April 26, 2024)
- Pikachu (releasing April 26, 2024)
- Charizard (releasing April 26, 2024)
These reprinted Super Smash Bros. Amiibo's box art and poses are based on their appearances in Super Smash Bros. For Wii U and 3DS. The GameStop website has a slight inconsistency with its R.O.B. Listing, where the picture of the figure is the neutral gray NES colored one, while the box art image shows that is based on the Nintendo Famicom's colors instead. While the differences are minute, some collectors will likely check to see which version of the R.O.B. Amiibo is missing from their collection first before ordering.
GameStop recently restocked the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Guardian amiibo back in January, which is another popular figure. The Guardian amiibo hasn't had any problems with stock ever since its resupply, so it's possible the restocks for Charizard, Pikachu, Duck Hunt, and R.O.B. Might be in the same boat. More Super Smash Bros. Amiibos are likely to be reprinted in 2024 as well.
