Super Smash Bros. Ultimate now finally has all of the characters on the game's roster unveiled and are obtainable through unlocking the characters or by purchasing the DLC fighters. With the game's entire roster out, tier lists are pretty static now as they have been adjusted to fit the new match-ups and gameplay with the new DLC characters after Sora was unveiled.

Some characters are simply better than others in terms of niche gameplay, with one such area being edge-guarding. Edge-guarding in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is practically keeping an opponent off of the edge and gaining their composure back onto the stage.

10 Fox

Ever since Super Smash Bros. 64, Fox has taken over the competitive scene, as Fox was debatably the most popular character in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Fox was one of the best characters to edge-guard against other opponents in Melee, and the same is true in the franchise's new addition, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Fox has a perfect arsenal for preventing opponents from taking the advantage while on the edge of a stage, or even off of the stage. With his reflector, quick moves, and decent recovery, Fox is great at edge-guarding.

9 Marth

Just like Fox, Marth was another one of the most popular characters to use in the competitive matches in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Marth has quick moves, more specifically quick smash attacks. Marth's down-tilt is infamous for being used against opponents attempting to grab the stage's ledge.

Aside from that one simple move, Marth's aerial attacks are also pretty fast, which means he can disrupt the majority of characters when they attempt to recover towards the stage. Marth is also great at punishing on the edge.

toon link, young link, and link in super smash bros. ultimate

Link has been a part of the Super Smash Bros. Franchise ever since Super Smash Bros. 64. The hero of Hyrule has a large arsenal of tools that are more than capable of attacking enemies from a distance. When the opponent finds themselves off-stage or around the edge of the stage, Link will be able to exploit their positions perfectly.

All of Link's different characters essentially have the same moves, so any of them are wonderful for edge-guarding. Their bombs, arrows, and boomerangs are capable of taking a stock off-stage.

7 Sonic

sonic in super smash bros. ultimate

Sonic has probably been the most controversial character in the Super Smash Bros. Franchise ever since his debut in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The controversy is all due to the fact that Sonic has a bland moveset along with a general play-style that isn't very fun to play against.

Ignoring that, Sonic, when played well, actually has some incredibly useful tactics up his sleeve that can pretty much always knock out an opponent when they're caught off-stage. His aerials are amazing, his spring is overpowered, and he has great recovery.

6 Sora

sora in super smash bros. ultimate

Sora of the Kingdom Hearts franchise found himself in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the very last DLC character to be announced for the game. When the character was finally playable, everyone instantly would rank the Keyblade user at around high tier.

Sora has great knock-out and combo capability while on even ground, but Sora truly shines when he is in the air. Because of this, Sora is one of the best characters when guarding the stage's edge against an opponent. With his lightning, freeze, fire, and aerial combos, no character stands a chance!

5 Lucas

Lucas is Ness' echo fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Even with that fact, Lucas has some important differences that make the character a much better fighter when considering edge-guarding. First off, Lucas' up-smash is easily one of the best in the game, which makes edge-reads lethal.

Lucas' neutral-special, which freezes opponents, is also great for easily taking a stock from an enemy while they are attempting to recover onto the stage. Lucas' spikes also hit easily, as opponents never suspect them.

4 Little Mac

Here's a little surprise for fans of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Little Mac is one of the best edge-guarding characters in the game. Of course, what most people would think is that "Little Mac is the worst character in the game when it comes to the air or being off-stage."

Well, that is true, but Little Mac is actually devastating when it comes to edge-guarding. His smash attacks are all incredibly fast, and the character moves quickly on his own. Because of this, it can be more than infuriating when attempting to recover against a Little Mac player who knows what they're doing.

3 Snake

Snake has been a fan-favorite fighter in Super Smash Bros. Once he made his exciting debut in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Now that the character is in Ultimate, Snake has become one of the best zoners in the franchise. Snake has a large multitude of different weapons from Metal Gear Solid to utilize in battle.

With C4, he can surprise an enemy. With his guided missiles, he can simply stop an enemy from recovering. With his RPG, he can read an opponent rolling to quickly take a stock. No matter what situation when it comes to guarding the edge, Snake has an answer.

2 Pac-Man

Everyone's favorite arcade game mascot made his way into Super Smash Bros. As a decent fighter who varies on tier lists. When it comes to edge-guarding though, Pac-Man is a high-tier character due to his amazing access to various options.

Pac-Man has alright smash attacks, but it is his special attacks that are truly effective against opponents attempting to thrive around the stage's edge. With his neutral-special, he has different projectiles to take care of enemies in different situations, which alone makes him an s-tier edge-guarding fighter.

1 Sephiroth

sephiroth in super smash bros. ultimate

Sephiroth is one of the most highly appraised DLC fighters to be introduced into the Super Smash Bros. Franchise. With Cloud and Sephiroth in the game, Final Fantasy fans can rest easy. Sephiroth is one of the highest-tiered DLC characters in the game, and for good reason.

Sephiroth has great recovery, which allows him to easily disrupt recovering enemies with his far-reaching sword. He also has a projectile that can take a stock from an enemy near the side of a stage. And finally, Sephiroth's curse move can set up some great knock-out combos when edge-guarding.
