Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has many various characters from across the video-gaming world. Each character has their very own unique moveset (unless they are an echo fighter) and different ways to maximize their gameplay for the game's meta. More in general though, characters can be divided into different play style groups. One such group would be zoners.

Zoning characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are characters that mainly fight against other characters by using projectiles or hitting their opponents from afar. These would be characters that use bombs, blasts, guns, and more! Zoning characters are some of the most important ones to consider when picking a character to have a better chance in a matchup.

10 Dark Samus

Dark Samus is one of the very new characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that players would have been able to unlock within the base game! Dark Samus is the echo fighter to the regular Samus. Players have debated on which Samus is better, and many say that Dark Samus is better due to one key difference.

She is more floaty. Dark Samus has all of the same attacks as Samus, but she is much lighter, meaning that she can jump higher at the cost of being launched further more easily.

9 Samus

Samus has been regarded as the main zoning character ever since Super Smash Bros. 64 was released to the public back on the Gamecube. Samus' special moves generally contain some sort of projectile that would harm other players. Her neutral special is a chargeable blast from her cannon.

This blast, when fully charged, is capable of knocking out an opponent fairly early. She also has missiles that excel at producing combos and dealing damage, and miniature bombs that are good for disrupting the enemy.

8 Mega Man

Mega Man

Mega Man made his appreciative debut in the game before Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Smash Bros. 3DS, and Nintendo Wii U (Super Smash Bros. 4). Mega Man plays so incredibly similar to his main game counterparts.

Mega Man has access to his signature arm cannon blast, which is also his forward smash. He has gears to throw, a leaf shield, sticky bombs, and more. Mainly, Mega Man's projectiles are a means for inflicting damage and creating some gnarly combos against opponents.

link using his down air

Link is another character that has seen the Super Smash Bros. Roster within the very first game. Link is considered a sword character in the game, but the hero of Hyrule also has a grand arsenal of different weaponry to fight against other characters.

Link has access to bombs, which now explode manually, a bow with infinite arrows, a boomerang, and the rarely-seen sword blast that Link has when he is at 0%. All of these different weapons are great ways to disrupt the enemy, with the bomb being infamous for knocking out an enemy early in the game.

6 Min Min

Min Min is one of the newest characters to be revealed in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The ARMS character is a part of the game's DLC fighter's pass. Min Min doesn't have any projectiles aside from a single one that she can blast from her arm.

It isn't that sole blast that makes her a zoner though, as Min Min is able to punch opponents from about half the length of a stage! Min Min's arms can also grab an opponent from far away, and not only that, but Min Min has two different smashes as players can smash with the B button as well.

5 Snake

Snake made his surprising debut in the Super Smash Bros. Franchise way back in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The character was infamous for his different weapons that could sneak up on opponents and blow them away. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the character is no different.

Snake has access to a lot of different weapons that fans would have seen him use in Metal Gear Solid, including a C4 bomb, a guided missile launcher, an RPG, and even grenades! With all of these, Snake players have made some of the flashiest combos.

4 Hero

Hero is another one of the newest characters to be introduced into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of the game's fighter's pass. Hero comes a long way from the various Dragon Quest games, with various appearances that appeal to different games in the franchise.

Hero has the most moves in the game, as his down special allows him to select from a randomly chosen list of different RPG moves from Dragon Quest games. More than that, Hero has a chargeable fireball and a tornado move that hits from below!

3 Isabelle

Isabelle was introduced into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the echo fighter to the beloved Villager. Isabelle essentially has all of the same moves as Villager, with some minor, yet effective, changes. Isabelle has a fishing pole that can prove infuriating against opponents.

She also has the same pocket move as Villager. Different from Villager is her hidden rocket move in which she plants a rocket into the ground to surprise unaware opponents, or to fit into a combo. She also has Villager's infamous slingshot.

2 Duck Hunt

Duck Hunt

Duck Hunt made an unexpected debut in the Super Smash Bros. Franchise back in Super Smash Bros. 4. Duck Hunt is simply the dog from the game, Duck Hunt, accompanied by a duck on his back!

The dog and duck both fight together as they launch cans that can explode as they're shot at, clay targets, and even have a move in which the hunter from Duck Hunt is assumed to be shooting at the opponents! Duck Hunt has some incredible combos that may be difficult to learn, but it is worth it as they're flashy and effective.

1 Simon/Richter

Simon was introduced alongside his successor Richter in the early days of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. These two pretty much have no difference in the gameplay at all, with their only differences being in animations and holy water effects.

Simon and Richter are debatably the best zoners in the game, as they have throwing axes, holy water, long-reaching chains, and even a boomerang-like cross! With all of these, a Simon and Richter player can easily stay away from an opponent as they perform projectile combos and easily finish a stock off in seconds.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available on the Nintendo Switch.
