Nintendo has released Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Version 13.0.4 update for June 2025, but Switch users should only expect a small patch. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is one of the most well-known crossover fighting games developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Sora Ltd., and players can control a wide variety of characters from Nintendo’s catalog during arena fights, including Link, Pikachu, and even third-party Final Fantasy characters.
Being one of the most popular fighting games in Japan and across the world, the Super Smash Bros. Creator was given an honorary award by the Japanese government recently, celebrating his contribution to video game development. The Super Smash Bros. Series has delivered five entries thus far, beginning in 1999, offering Melee, Brawl, and versions for the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Looks Like a Godsend for Casual Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
The Nintendo Switch 2 has finally been revealed, and while it may not reinvent the wheel, its improvements seem perfect for casual Smash Bros. Play.
Posted on the Nintendo support page, the publisher confirmed the Version 13.0.4 update had been deployed on June 24, following the publisher’s promise to fix a game-breaking Mii Fighters bug in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Switch 2 version. Once again, the small patch addressed another issue with Mii Fighters' thumbnails, and also offered a fix plaguing the Nintendo Switch 2 system Version 20.1.5. The last Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update was released back in October 2024, and considering the size of this patch, another update might not appear for a while.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is one of several games that punish the player for being too good at it, joining the likes of Resident Evil 4, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and Nintendo’s very own Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but the loyal community of fans appreciated the technical support. Furthermore, players were discussing how the series will evolve, and some think the next installment may be refined to only include Nintendo characters.
At the start of the year, Nintendo revised its 10 best-selling games list for 2025, despite the placement of each title’s ranking remaining unchanged since the previous update. The company’s top spot was awarded to arguably Nintendo’s best game, accumulating 67.35 million units sold, and some other games that made the list include Animal Crossing: New Horizons, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Pokemon Sword and Shield. Additionally, fans believed Super Mario Party Jamboree would eventually climb the ranks.
