David Corenswet Becomes the Perfect Superman in Body, Mind, and Spirit
The leading man himself, David Corenswet, perfectly fits the red boots of Superman. Corenswet’s portrayal of Superman is near perfect, aided by the writing and direction of James Gunn. Superman, this time around, has the charm and Boy Scout personality that makes him so iconic, with a stellar range of emotions. Superman’s love for all life, along with his incredible strengths and powers, shows how this is perhaps the ultimate rendition of Superman, especially when he has such a wonderfully crafted costume that’s bright, vibrant, and with the red trunks. Everything about this portrayal of Superman feels so right, as he’s immensely powerful, vulnerable, and so genuinely human.
5 Inaccuracy: The Identity and Fate of Ultraman
Ultraman Isn't From Earth-3
Ultraman has been the long-rumored name of the masked villain standing alongside Lex Luthor during the entire marketing run for Superman, but that’s always been a point of confusion for some fans. Ultraman is the name given to the Earth-3 counterpart of Kal-El as an evil variant, but that’s not the case here. The Ultraman presented in Superman is actually a clone of Superman, created from a single strand of Superman’s hair. Ultraman has the powers of Superman and the DNA, but none of the intellect, making him a mute and powerful servant to Lex Luthor. This clone is lost to a black hole, but who knows? Maybe he gets sucked into Bizarro World and becomes Bizarro Superman for a future project, or it’s just a one-and-done clone for Lex Luthor to improve on later down the line.

4 Accuracy: The Love Between Lois Lane and Superman
Rachel Brosnahan and David Corenswet Are Incredibly Romantic and Powerful
David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane provide one of the most electric chemistries in comic book movie history. Corenswet and Brosnahan have such perfect chemistry on and off screen, and it makes their relationship as Clark and Lois so very believable as youthful lovers. From the drama shared between them on conflicting world views and the passionate way they look at each other, their chemistry dominates every scene they feature in to provide an adoring love story to breathe through the action, and the love between Lois Lane and Superman is something that makes them DC’s best couple.
3 Inaccuracy: Jor-El and Lara’s Purpose for Sending Kal to Earth
Krypton Was a Culture of Conquerors and Harems, But Was It Really?
There was never really much to debate when it came to Kal-El being sent to Earth. The most obvious answer was that Krypton was dying, and Jor-El and Lara saw Earth as the perfect planet to desperately save their newborn son. Earth had a yellow Sun, meaning Kal-El would grow up with incredible powers, giving him the strength he needed to survive on a world that is not his own, even if the people there looked like him. However, Superman takes a different approach and muddles Superman’s legacy somewhat by saying that Jor-El and Lara sent Kal-El to Earth to conquer humanity as their superior, ruling over a weak species and turning them into a harem of wives so that he could have multiple children and start Krypton anew. However, this is a decrypted message translated by Lex Luthor, so the validity of said message could be faked, even if experts say otherwise. Yet, as far as Superman is aware, his parents sent him to Earth for evil reasons.

2 Accuracy: Lex Luthor’s Seething Hatred for Superman
Nicholas Hoult Has an Immense Hatred for Everyone's Favorite Hero
Nicholas Hoult brings such a seething, venemous personality to Lex Luthor, a man who has spent billions and 3 years in a desperate attempt to kill Superman for his ego and brain to conquer this alien’s brawn. Lex Luthor’s characterization is extremely accurate, and while it would have been nice to see him don a power suit to fight Superman himself, there’s always hope for next time with a sequel. Lex Luthor is incredibly intelligent, with his ability to create a clone of Superman from a single strand of hair, along with his ability to create a pocket dimension and manipulate the U.S. Government into opening a probe into Superman. His smarts and boiling hatred for Superman cement Nicholas Hoult as one of the best live-action portrayals of Lex Luthor.
1 Inaccuracy: The Ownership of Krypto
Krypto Isn't Superman's Super Dog
It’s been long established in the comics that Krypto is Superman’s dog. Krypto has usually always been the family dog of the Els on Krypton, and whether through the Phantom Zone or a test rocket, Krypto always made his way back to Kal on Earth. However, Krypto has quite a few changes in Superman, as not only is he a scruffy and nightmare dog with no discipline, modeled visually and personality wise after James Gunn’s dog, Ozo, but Krypto actually belongs to Supergirl (Superman’s cousin) and Superman is only watching Krypto for the week while Kara is off world.
