On paper, the game sounds pretty fun and relaxing, but things can quickly turn south if players don’t manage their virtual store properly.

Updated January 24, 2025, by Muhit Rahman: 2024 was an excellent year for fans of Supermarket Together with a steady stream of content updates along with its first major DLC "The Cool Pack". The DLC added 8 different characters, Dance and Poses, and a whole new batch of decorations for players to use around their shop. It's a great time to get into the game, with a new update out already that adds even more Green Decorations to help their store stand out. If players are taking their first steps into Supermarket Together, here are a few handy tips to make the start of their retail adventure easier.

9 Mark Up The Prices

Selling Products For Higher Prices Can Lead To Huge Profits

Pricing products in Supermarket Together

Making profits is one of the main priorities when running a store in Supermarket Together. Players buy products in bulk, stock their shelves with them, and use the Barcode Scanner to set the prices. The game is pretty lenient with how high one can mark up the price, so players should be sure to take advantage of it.

For example, Salt usually costs $0.45 per unit when bought, but players can easily sell it for double the amount, making a huge profit per unit sold. However, when selling expensive products like Honey Cereals, it's safer to mark them up by 40-50%. Otherwise, many customers will complain about the price and won't buy them.

8 Round Up Product Prices

Makes It Easier To Give Change To Customers

A checkout in Supermarket Together

When players start their store, they won't have the ability to hire an employee right off the bat. That means that they will be stuck tending to the customers at the Checkout desk. Rounding up the prices will make it easier for them to return the change during checkout. Instead of setting the price of a product to $2.99, players should go for $3.00.

While the game won't force players to do the math, rounding up the product price will certainly help when returning change to the customer in Supermarket Together.

7 Don't Unlock Too Many Products Early

Not Stocking An Unlocked Product Can Result In Penalization

As players progress through Supermarket Together, they will get the ability to unlock a wide variety of products to stock their shelves with. However, during the early stage of the game, it's best to stick with the Basic Products I. Unlike Supermarket Simulator, where players can stock optimal products for profit, Supermarket Together penalizes those who do not stock a product that they have unlocked.

It's not just AAA games that have excellent co-op modes. These indie titles have some of the finest co-op gameplay for friends to enjoy.

If players unlock a new product line but don't stock their shelves with it, the Not Found Product number at the End of Working Day screen will increase. When a new product line is unlocked, players need to keep the supply up to keep the customers happy. So, during the early stage, it's best not to unlock a new product line unless players have the manpower needed to handle the supply line.

6 Keep The Shelves Stocked

Empty Shelves Can Lead To Customers Complaining

Restocking shelves in Supermarket Together

It's easy to underestimate how quickly the player's product will sell out once they hit that Supermarket Opened button. The key to success in Supermarket Together is to always keep restocking the shelves once the product is about to run out. Letting a shelf go empty is one of the biggest mistakes players can make in the game.

More products on one's shelves means that more customers will come in to buy them. Keeping spare products in the Storage Room is a good idea since players can restock quickly if a Product Shelf is about to run out. But even if gamers don't have any backup in their Storage Room, they can quickly run to the manager's room and order a new batch. Since the new batch arrives instantly outside the store, it's possible to run out, grab the box, and restock the shelves before customers get a chance to complain.

5 Beware of Shoplifters

Don't Let Your Money Walk Out The Door

The early few days in Supermarket Together are pretty easy to manage. Players' product options are low, and they'll also be handling fewer customers. However, after they get through the first ten days, they'll not only have more customers to deal with, but shoplifters will also start showing up at their stores.

To protect income, players will have to take proper measures to deal with thieves. While they can be identified via the unique Shoplifter Icon as soon as they walk into the store, it can be difficult to catch them in the act each time. Assign employees as security guards, set up security cameras, and install anti-theft doors at the entrances to make sure the shoplifters can't run away with goods without paying.

4 Unlock Employee 1 Perk

An Extra Set Of Hands Can Allow Players To Focus On Restocking

A cashier in Supermarket Together

Unlocking the Employer 1 perk from the Franchise Points board will let players hire an employee for their supermarket. While the early days in Supermarket Together are pretty easy to handle on one's own, once players get into days 4-5 and have a little more variety in their products, hiring a helping hand is a good idea.

This will free players up to order more products and restock the shelves while the employee handles the Checkout Desk. Of course, hiring an employee adds an Employee Wager expense to the End of Working Day accounts, but the quality-of-life improvement that comes with doing so is usually worth it.

3 Assign Different Tasks

Play To Your Employee's Strengths

As players grow and expand their shop, they'll eventually hire multiple employees to help out around the shop. While managing the cashier's desk is always the first priority, they'll also want their employees to contribute to other sectors of the supermarket. Make sure to assign the employees different tasks based on their strengths.

Some employees are innately good at restocking, while others perform better as security. When hiring an employee, check their stats to see which position they are best suited for and make sure to assign them to that specific task. Not only will they do their job better, but they'll also have a higher morale because of it.

2 Build Lights

Allows Players to Handle Checkouts Faster And Catch Thieves More Easily

Building Lights in Supermarket Together

Decorations don't really impact gameplay in Supermarket Together. The customers will keep coming in even if players don't put up any decorations. However, players should still set up a couple of lights around the store for their own benefit.

Stores might not seem like spooky locales for horror games; however, these games prove that they can be downright terrifying.

As time progresses in the game, the store can get pretty dark. Players will be able to handle the checkouts faster with a couple of lights around the store. It also makes it easier to catch thieves.

1 Don't Expand Too Early

Expanding Will Increase The Player's Overhead Cost

Buying expansions in Supermarket Together

When players are through the Supermarket Together's early stages, they'll soon arrive at a point where their store just won't have enough space for all the products to resell. This is when players will want to expand the supermarket using the Buy Shop Space or Buy Storage Space option. This can be found in the manager's room beside the Franchise Points board.

Expanding too early, however, is a bad idea, as it will also increase one's overhead costs. Since buying these expansions is expensive, it's best to hold off until players get through the first week or two of the game and have made some nice profits for themselves.
