Nintendo Switch 2 users can get a special edition Resident Evil Requiem Pro Controller when the game launches in 2026, but it won't come cheap. The Resident Evil franchise has close ties with Nintendo, with the beloved RE4 originally releasing as a GameCube exclusive and getting its own limited controller for that system. While Resident Evil Requiem won't be a Switch 2 exclusive, it is getting a unique and expensive bit of hardware for the console.
Nintendo's latest console has faced its fair share of criticism over its pricing, but this hasn't stopped it from becoming a massive success. As of September 2025, the Switch 2 had sold over 2 million units in Japan alone and over 7 million globally. A strong slate of upcoming games could help push those numbers even further, but some of Nintendo's tie-ins with these games could leave fans with a bit of sticker shock.
Resident Evil 7 and Village Switch 2 Ports Confirmed
The latest two mainline entries in Capcom's legendary survival horror franchise, Resident Evil, are making their way to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Resident Evil Requiem Is Getting a $100 Switch 2 Pro Controller
Nintendo and Capcom have unveiled a special edition Resident Evil Requiem Pro Controller for $99.99 , and pre-orders have already opened. The controller will come out on February 27, 2026, the same day that Requiem and two other Resident Evil titles come to Switch 2, but it's already sold out on Nintendo's U.S. Website, despite its high price. Fans in other countries may still be able to pre-order it through Nintendo, and at the time of writing, U.S. Pre-orders are still available at Best Buy.
The Requiem Pro Controller is far from the most expensive gamepad on the market today. Still, it may take some fans by surprise, considering how Nintendo already raised the price of the Switch 2 Pro Controller before the system even came out, as a response to changing market conditions. The vanilla Pro Controller is currently sitting at $89.99 at the My Nintendo Store, which is already more expensive than the PS5's DualSense and the Xbox Wireless Controller.
Later on in 2026, Resident Evil Requiem will also get some Amiibos, though Capcom and Nintendo have not revealed their final design. It's worth noting that Amiibos have gotten more expensive in the Switch 2 era, too, but it's also unclear how much exactly the Requiem ones will cost. These will come out sometime in Summer 2026, so fans should keep their eyes peeled over the coming months for more news about what to expect from them.
