Originally conceived as a Virtua Fighter RPG, Shenmue tells the story of a young martial artist named Ryo Hazuki and his quest to avenge his father. The first two games helped to lay a lot of the groundwork for what would eventually become the open-world genre and featured cutting edge graphics for the time of their release.
