Watchmen started life as a monthly comic book series and was published by DC Comics between 1986 and 1987. In the years that have followed, it's received numerous prequel and sequel mini-series as well as movie, tv show, and video game adaptations. The most notable of these was probably the 2009 movie directed by Zack Snyder.
