Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master, a 2022 Xbox-exclusive rhythm game from Bandai Namco Entertainment, is being delisted on September 30. This means those interested in picking up Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master have less than two months to purchase the game on the Xbox Store.
The Taiko no Tatsujin series of rhythm-based games has been around since the early 2000s, with titles having been released on various platforms over the years. However, The Drum Master stood out as the first Xbox-exclusive installment. The game was released on January 27, 2022, and was available on Xbox Game Pass. As the name suggests, Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master involves playing the taiko drum, tasking players with keeping the rhythm in over 70 songs. While many series fans have praised the gameplay, the game ended up being removed from Xbox Game Pass in 2023. Now, it appears that rhythm game fans are running out of time to purchase a copy.
According to a notice on the series’ official website, Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master will be delisted from the Xbox Store on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 11:59 PM. The Xbox exclusivity of the title makes this news even more disappointing for fans, as there will seemingly be no other purchasing options. Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master never had a physical release, making it impossible to find a copy of the popular rhythm game elsewhere.
Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master is Being Delisted on September 30
Unfortunately, Bandai Namco Entertainment did not reveal the reason for the delisting in the statement on the series' website. Ahead of its removal, Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master can be purchased on the Xbox Store for $49.99. It is worth noting that DLC packs will still be available for purchase after the game has been delisted. In addition, those who already own the game will still have access to the title after September 30 and can re-download the software if necessary.
While Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master is being delisted, the developer has released another game in the series since then. Specifically, Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is available for Xbox platforms, along with Nintendo Switch and Steam. The game offers more rhythm-based gameplay for fans of the series to check out.
Despite this disappointing news regarding Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master, Xbox fans have other games to check out in the coming weeks. For example, Xbox Game Pass recently added Farming Simulator 25 to its catalog, and Gears of War: Reloaded is coming on August 26.
