After getting Malachy the Marrowghast’s Eye for the first part of his questline in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, he will ask the player to bring a new item: a Fore-Dweller’s Finger in order to expand his shop’s offerings and cater to more customers.

Unfortunately, Malachy offers no pointers on how to find a Fore-Dweller’s Finger, as he himself has no idea how to go about such a task. There are no quest markers to indicate where to go next, and players are left entirely to their own devices regarding this task. Here’s where to look.

How to Get the Fore-Dweller’s Finger in Tainted Grail

The Fore-Dweller’s Finger can be obtained during the quest, “The Last Voyage,” issued by Lady Elaine in Ron’s Tavern. First, head to the Village, west of the Horns of the South Fort. Ron’s Tavern is right next to ‘The Village’ Fast Travel point.

Look for Lady Elaine in the left corner, sitting at the back, behind Lady Alisa. Talk to Elaine to trigger the quest. She will hand you a book and ask you to read it. Read the book and talk to her again. This time, she’ll ask you three questions. Here are the correct dialogue choices for each:

  1. A figurine of a Fore-Dweller.
  2. Island Asylum.
  3. A sea monster.

Go to the Horns of the South Museum and talk with the caretaker to understand what happened to the Andraste. He will point you towards the east of the coast. Follow the quest marker and look for a large island (shown above); Andraste’s shipwreck is behind it.

Explore the shipwreck to find the “Personal Diary of Captain Lex.” Read the diary, and the quest marker will be updated. Follow it to a cave underneath the All-Mother’s Temple; you’ll need to swim to get here.

Clean up the monsters inside the cave until you eventually see a large open lake with a bright light shining down on a large boat covered in cloth. This is a Fore-Dweller’s corpse. Interact with it and select "Rip off finger" to obtain the Fore-Dweller’s Finger.

The Scourge of the Sea, the boss of this area, drops one of the best one-handed weapons in all of Act 1, Tidepiercer.

Return to Malachy via the Fast Travel point and hand him the Fore-Dweller’s Finger, and the quest will be marked complete. Malachy will reward you with 2550 XP, 250 gold, and a Wand of Piercing Cold.
