Tales of the Shire drops you into the cozy village of Bywater, where you are surrounded by adorable hobbits and lots of heartwarming things to do. But since you’re new in town, you are not quite considered a local yet.

To truly become part of the community, Tales of the Shire players will need to raise their Fellowship. It might seem a bit confusing at first, but it’s a big part of the game and helps move the story forward. In this guide, we will explain how Fellowship works and share some easy ways to level it up.

Like any good social sim, Tales of the Shire is home to a colorful cast of characters, including 15 villagers with distinct personalities and roles.

How to Increase Fellowship in Tales of the Shire

To put it simply, Fellowship is how the game keeps track of your friendship with the people of Bywater. After you move into the village, your goal is to become good friends with the locals, and Fellowship shows how well you’re doing. The higher your Fellowship, the more it means you have bonded with everyone.

Increase Your Friendships

One of the easiest ways to become friends with the villagers is by sharing a meal with them. In this 2025 life sim, food really brings people together. Hobbits love a good meal, and sitting down to eat with someone is the best way to get closer to them.

Fans will learn how shared meals work early in their journey. But you can’t just give someone food directly. Instead, you need to set up a shared meal. At the start, you can invite a hobbit to eat with you at your own home. Later, as your Fellowship level increases, you will unlock more places to host meals, like Mooma’s Island, The Green Dragon Inn, and The Ivy Bush Inn.

If you are hosting the meal at your home, head over to the dining area to plan a meal. You can invite up to two guests at a time when you're doing it at your home. Once everything’s set, your chosen hobbits will come over the next day to share the meal with you.

One thing to keep in mind here is that each villager has their own food cravings. If you serve them their cravings, you will get some extra nice rewards.

Completing Tales

There are many fun quests in Tales of the Shire, and doing them is a great way to earn Fellowship points. As players meet new characters around the village, many of them will ask for their help. Sometimes it’s as easy as finding a certain item, while other quests might take a bit more time.

Leveling Up Your Clubs

There are also different clubs in Tales of the Shire, like fishing, gardening, cooking, and foraging. Doing these activities and leveling up your clubs will also increase your Fellowship. Each club focuses on a specific activity. So if you want to level up the Fishing Club, for example, you’ll need to catch fish.
