Like in most life sims, making money is a big part of Tales of the Shire. Players need it to buy useful things that can help them earn even more money later on. Here are the most effective ways to earn it:

Fishing

Fishing is, hands down, one of the best ways to make money. It’s also pretty simple to do (no complaints about that).

Tales of the Shire players will need a fishing rod to get started. To get it, keep playing through the main story until you meet Old Noakes, the local fisher-hobbit. When you talk to him about the Book of Rules, he will hand over his fishing rod and ask you to catch three fish. Once you complete that, the rod is yours to keep.

To fish, equip your rod and aim for the ripples in the water. In the beginning, you’ll mostly catch common fish, but later on, when you upgrade your rod, you will start finding rarer and more valuable fish, which means more money when you sell them.

Selling Items

Another easy way to earn money is by selling items you find while exploring. Things like Peaches and Basil are pretty common and can give you a nice bit of cash, especially early in the game.

However, keep in mind that your backpack doesn’t have a lot of space at first. If you want to carry more items and make more money, you should level up the Foraging Club. That will give you more backpack space.

Gardening

Gardening is another great way to make money in Tales of the Shire. You will be introduced to gardening pretty early on, and it’s something you’ll be doing a lot.

To get started, players will have to buy seeds from Farmer Cotton. Once you’ve got them, plant them and water them with your watering can. When your crops are ready, you can sell them for money. Or if you want, you can also use them in cooking or share them with the sweet villagers.
