Bandai Namco inadvertently leaked a Tales of Xillia remaster earlier this week. If confirmed, the leak could be great news for fans of the series who do not own a PlayStation 3 or just want to play Tales of Xillia on modern platforms with quality-of-life improvements.
Tales of Xillia was originally released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in 2011 in Japan and 2013 in the United States. At the time, Tales of Xillia had a highly positive reception, being considered one of the best co-op RPGs available on Sony’s platform. The title was fairly successful, and it spawned a sequel in 2012, but unlike some other games in the Tales of series, it was never remastered.

Leak Indicates Bandai Namcom Could Be Planning Tales of Xillia Remaster
Publisher Bandai Namco released a video called “Tales of Series News” on YouTube, which featured pictures of Tales of Xillia characters. The video was seemingly supposed to be unveiled only by August 18, and it was unfortunately removed soon after gamers spotted it. Tales of Xillia was widely considered one of the best PS3 RPGs, but has remained largely unavailable on modern platforms. Considering recent remasters of titles such as Tales of Symphonia in 2023 and Tales of Graces f in 2025, a possible Tales of Xillia remaster could potentially come to all modern platforms, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Switch.
This is not the first time rumors regarding a Tales of Xillia remaster surfaced. Back in 2024, for example, listings from a Czech retailer suggested that Tales of Xillia Remastered could be launched for modern platforms. Also, there were indications that Bandai Namco was working on a remaster to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the franchise. Taking these multiple rumors into account, an official announcement on August 18 feels very likely. However, this is still just speculation at this point, so gamers should still take it with a grain of salt.
Tales of Xillia is often cited as one of the most beloved Tales of games by fans of the franchise, together with entries such as Tales of Symphonia, Vesperia, and Arise. The title featured two protagonists with interconnected storylines, the “Lord of Spiritis” Milla Maxwell, and the medical student Jude Mathis.
