The Borderlands series has a tradition of including several pop-culture references and character cameos as hidden easter eggs for players to find. Borderlands 4 upholds that tradition by bringing back the popular "Tannis on a Fish or Riding a Fish" easter egg from the previous games. Players will be able to discover this easter egg pretty early on in the game. However, they'll need to blow up some explosive barrels in a particular order for the easter egg and the Cut That Out trophy to pop up.

Where to Find the "Tannis on a Fish" Easter Egg in Borderlands 4 (Cut That Out Trophy)

Players can check out our Borderlands 4 interactive map to check out the location of all the hidden secrets and loot in Kairos.

Players can encounter Tannis on a Fish easter egg right after finishing the tutorial section of Borderlands 4, which will unlock the Cut That Out trophy. After the prologue, you'll be at the Launchpad faction town, which is the first NPC hub area in the game. From here, travel west towards the shoreline to the location marked on the map above.

Once you reach the area, you'll spot a little hut on the beach, with five barrels of different elements scattered around it. Players will need to blow up said barrels in a particular order to trigger Tannis riding the Fish easter egg.

Since there are five barrels, there are 120 possible combinations to try if you want to figure out the order yourself. However, let’s make things easier and share the correct order you need to blow up the barrels to trigger the Tannis on a Fish easter egg in Borderlands 4.

Once you blow up these barrels in the right order, a cardboard cutout of Borderlands 2's iconic villain, Handsome Jack, will appear first. This will shortly be followed by a cardboard cutout of Dr. Patricia Tannis will appear, riding on a fish. After a short display, the area will erupt in fireworks, and players will unlock the Cut That Out trophy in Borderlands 4.
