Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate sends our heroes in a half-shell on an all-new adventure to rescue Splinter from the clutches of Shredder and a mysterious new villain. Drawing obvious inspiration from Hades, Splintered Fate trades the classic side-scrolling gameplay we have come to love for rogue-lite action.

Performing the perfect run to reach the end in a single sitting is challenging enough, but you must jump through some extra hoops to unlock the true ending in TMNT: Splintered Fate. This secret ending offers a complete conclusion to the storyline and is designed to be unlocked by only the most persistent players. Here's what you need to do.

How to Unlock the True Ending in TMNT: Splintered Fate

TMNT Splintered Fate - Shredder Defeat
TMNT: Splintered Fate features a mysterious new villain who remains to be revealed.

First things first. It does not matter which turtle character you choose in Splintered Fate, it takes quite a few runs until you can even reach Shredder, let alone beat him. However, you would be wrong if you think beating Shredder the first time means beating the game. It only restarts the rogue-lite loop, encouraging you to start a new run to get even stronger.

Additionally, the mysterious new villain who kidnapped Splinter gives a subtle hint that the game is only just beginning. So what happens to Splinter? He remains trapped in the portal dimension even after you beat Shredder.

TMNT: Splintered Fate does not scale difficulty after you beat Shredder. Runs, as well as the optional challenge portals and gauntlets, remain the same, with enemies receiving random modifiers to make encounters unique.

The only way to rescue Splinter and bring him home to the sewers is to unlock the true ending of Splintered Fate. This is not an easy task. You need to beat Shredder a total of eight times to end the main campaign. You can choose any turtle character, but your Dragon Coin upgrades pretty much determine how far you go.

Every time you beat Shredder, the mysterious villain will reward you with a Splinter trophy. Get all eight of them, and he will fulfill his promise of letting Splinter go.

TMNT Splintered Fate - Portal Dimension
Splinter is trapped inside a portal dimension in TMNT: Splintered Fate.

Even though you beat Shredder and rescued Splinter, there is still the matter of the new villain. Who is he really? What does he want? Unfortunately, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate does not dive into that, at least not yet.

Following the true ending, the turtles mention their work is still not done. The game will likely pursue the storyline with more content in 2025 as part of its DLC roadmap. Expect new playable characters to join the roster, new levels and bosses to beat, and "many more surprises" with further expansions.
