While playing games at home is generally a safe activity, unfortunately, there have been rare instances of incidents like these. Some gamers have shared terrifying stories of bullets being fired into their homes, or even discovering bullets lodged in walls where they typically spend time, like by a computer desk. In one instance, even a famous streamer went through it. Dr Disrespect once ended a stream abruptly, and returned out of character, revealing that someone had shot at his home. Now, something similar has happened to a teenager.

Teen Gets Shot While Playing Video Games

In the very early hours of September 1, a 17-year-old was reportedly shot in Philadelphia while playing video games indoors. The teen was enjoying the night with his friends, though it's not clear if he was the child of the homeowner or was one of the friends hanging out. According to NBC, the 17-year-old and his friends had started playing games on Sunday night and continued well into the morning. At about 1:20 am on Monday morning, bullets were fired outside the house, and several apparently came through the window of the home. At least one of those bullets ended up striking the teen in the back. Paramedics were called, and he was taken to the hospital, where he has since been listed as being in stable condition.

At the moment, it's not clear what - if anything - the motive was for the perpetrator to shoot at the house. NBC indicated that there was another shooting in Philadelphia just a few hours prior that had also seemingly targeted some teenagers, but they were on the street. Police are investigating to determine if there's a link. No further information has been revealed regarding the injured teen, likely due to him being underage.

Staying indoors and off the street is typically seen as a good way for young people to avoid getting mixed up in violent acts. There have been stories in the past of gamers outside being shot at, and in some cases, even dying as a result. In this incident, unfortunately, staying inside wasn't enough to be safe. Thankfully, though, it seems that the victim will recover from the injury, and no one else was hurt in the incident.
