Tekken 8 is getting into the Halloween spirit by offering a selection of spooky costumes in its in-game shop. The special, holiday-themed costumes in Tekken 8 are split between two packs, with one containing general Halloween costumes and the other focused on lending female members of the roster a more demonic look.
Reviving the fighting game series after nearly a decade, Tekken 8 launched as a huge hit in January, holding a Universal Acclaim score of 90 among professional reviewers on Metacritic. Though some recent review-bombing over perceived cash grabs has brought down its user scores somewhat, it's still enjoying a 70% all-time approval rating on Steam thanks to its intense and intuitive fighting action.
PUBG Mobile is Crossing Over With Tekken 8
PUBG Mobile launches a crossover event with Tekken 8, letting players pick up outfits, emotes, weapons and more based on three fighters.
The two packs currently up for offer in the in-game shop are the Grim Reaper Pack and the Seductive Pack, each of which costs 400 Tekken Coins. The Grim Reaper pack contains two costumes that can be applied to male members of the Tekken 8 roster, the Grim Reaper Hooded Cloak Set and the Skeleton Suit Set, as well as a Grim Reaper Scythe back item that can be applied to any fighter. The Seductive Pack includes the Seductive Long Hair Set, Seductive Attire Set, Devil Headband Set, and Succubus Wings Set. The items in this set can be applied to any female member of the fighting roster and, when combined, provide a look akin to a purple-clad, seductive demon.

In addition to the costumes that can provide a spookier look for the roster of fighters, there is also an avatar skin that transforms Tekken series antagonist Heihachi Mishima into a miniature version of himself, along with a matching Electric Thunder God Fist emote and profile, which are sold as separate purchases. Despite his iconic presence, which has been featured in every main-series Tekken game to date, Tekken 8 launched without Heihachi on the roster, and he was added to the game in early October for players with the Player Character Year 1 Pass. Other new items not specifically for Halloween are a green and yellow throwback Legacy Costume for Eddy Gordo and a set of Tiger Costumes that can be applied to avatars.
While the additions to the shop are a nice touch for those wanting to add a little Halloween flair to their favorite fighters, some players have developed an aversion to spending extra money on the fighting game. The Tekken 8 team issued an apology recently over the handling of the Genmaji Temple stage's release following backlash from fans who thought it should have been included in the Player Character Year 1 Pass instead of requiring an additional $5 purchase. The team intends to right the ship by offering pass subscribers an additional stage for no additional charge before the end of the year, though there's been no announcement about what that stage will be.
