Xbox gamers can still claim Tell Me Why at no cost, but not for much longer, with the deal being set to expire in less than a day. The award-winning Xbox console exclusive is currently also being given away on another platform.
Tell Me Why is a narrative-driven adventure from the genre veterans at Don't Nod Entertainment. It consists of three episodes that were originally released between August and September 2020. Since then, publisher Xbox Game Studios has given away Tell Me Why several times across multiple platforms. Over on the Xbox/Microsoft Store, the game was made free to claim in celebration of every Pride Month since 2023.
Epic Games Store Users Can Claim 2 Free Games Right Now
Epic Games Store users have a limited time to snag two free games for their digital libraries.
This year's giveaway is set to conclude on July 1, leaving fans with less than 24 hours to claim the Xbox version of Tell Me Why as of this writing if they haven't done so already. As is the case with the majority of Microsoft-published titles, Tell Me Why is an Xbox Play Anywhere game, so this single license currently being given away is valid on both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC.
Tell Me Why's Steam Giveaway Is Also Ending Soon
Tell Me Why has also been free to claim on Steam since May 30. Much like this Xbox Store giveaway, its Steam counterpart is also set to end on July 1. Being a Microsoft-published title, Tell Me Why has also been part of the Xbox Game Pass library since its 2020 debut, where it's expected to stay indefinitely.
In terms of what's actually on offer here, the game is set in a remote Alaskan location and stars two twins, Tyler and Alyson Ronan, who reunite after a decade apart. The two share a supernatural bond that allows them to conjure up manifestations of their memories, which they use to revisit their past. As they investigate discrepancies in their recollections, they uncover the events that led to their separation and the circumstances surrounding their mother’s death. Tell Me Why combines dialogue, exploration, and some light puzzle-solving into a narrative-driven experience where choices truly matter.
The game has been praised for its organic dialogue, emotional depth, and overall strong narrative—all things that Don't Nod Entertainment is known for. Its setting and art direction have also received plaudits, with some critics describing Tell Me Why's Alaskan small-town environments as richly imagined, highly immersive, and conducive to symbolic visual storytelling, something that the game keeps returning to time and time again.
