  • The upcoming Terraria 1.4.5 update will introduce plenty of new features.

Re-Logic has delayed Terraria's upcoming 1.4.5 update until 2025. Despite the disappointing news, the developer has good reason to push back the large Terraria update ahead of the upcoming holiday season.

Terraria's longevity is incredible. When it was initially released on PC back in 2011, much of the sentiment surrounding the game was that it was attempting to emulate the Minecraft formula from a 2D perspective. However, in the years since, it has become so much more than that. Developer Re-Logic has continued to support the game with new updates and crossovers, which have enabled it to still feel fresh after all this time. There's even an abundance of community-made Terraria mods that make the game even better, which has gone a long way to keeping it alive.

In November's State of the Game blog post, developer Re-Logic confirmed that it has delayed Terraria's 1.4.5 update until 2025, pointing out that end-of-year releases "are fraught with peril due to review cycles, people leaving early for the holidays, etc." While the studio wanted to get the work done prior to this, it was "also not going to force anyone on our team or anyone else's team to crunch for what would be an arbitrary deadline." Its commitment to being a "quality-first studio" has led it to "take the time necessary for each update to feel "just right,"" which is why the Terraria 1.4.5 update, which was first announced back in 2022, has been delayed until next year.

Terraria 1.4.5 Update Delayed Until 2025

Terraria 1.4.5 is set to be an enormous update for the game, so hopefully, it proves to be well worth the wait. The blog post gave a quick glimpse at a couple of these features, the first of which is the ability to plant acorns using a slingshot. There was also another look at the recently announced Terraria Palworld crossover, and footage of the upcoming Infused Fertilizer feature in action. This will allow trees to instantly grow extremely high.

It seems as though Terraria fans are in for an amazing 2025. The 1.4.5 update has undoubtedly been a long time coming, but Re-Logic taking this time is hopefully a good omen that it won't release until it's truly done. Among other things, 1.4.5 will also see the release of the Terraria Dead Cells crossover, another exciting collaboration that should offer a few surprises for players.
