How to Find Digtoise in Terraria

Digtoise in Terraria

Digtoise can be found in the Underground Desert, the sandy area deep below the surface of the desert in your world. Within this big cave full of yellow sand, you'll find pyramids and buggy enemies like scarabs, but also Digtoise.

To get to the Underground Desert, dig down from the surface of the desert. Use a pickaxe or bombs to make a path. Digtoise looks like a fossil block stuck in the sand walls or floor – a round, spiky turtle shape. Mine it with any pickaxe, even a basic copper one.

Digtoise only shows up in new worlds made after the update. If your world is old, start a fresh one to find it.

Helpful Potions for Your Hunt for Digtoise

Brew a Spelunker Potion using Bottled Water, Blinkroot, Moonglow, and Gold Ore. It makes treasures and ores glow, including Digtoise, thus making the search far easier than it would be without this potion. Alternatively, try a Treasure Finder Potion for sparkly hints on hidden stuff. These help you spot Digtoise without missing it. Drink them before you dig deep. Lastly, you can try the Metal Detector accessory.

How to Summon and Use Digtoise

Digtoise in Terraria

Once you mine the fossil block, Digtoise will be placed in your inventory. Left-click to summon Digtoise, and it will follow you like a pet. You can also right-click to call Digtoise back safely or right-click near it for a fun pet animation. Digtoise works best before Hardmode since it digs soft blocks but not tough ores later on.

Point your mouse where you want to dig. Left-click, and Digtoise will spin his way to your desired location:

  • Dig down: It makes a wide hole straight below.
  • Dig side: It carves a tall path left or right for side tunnels.
  • Right-click to stop it midway. Use this for quick mines or base building.
